PREVIEW
The Masters is regarded as one of the most prestigious tournaments on the circuit, despite it being a non-ranking event. The top 16 players in the world battle it out over eight days of snooker to become the Masters champion. Neil Robertson comes into the Masters off the back of the UK Championship title in December, and has reached the final for the last two years, losing last year but winning in 2012. His opponent in last year's final was Mark Selby, who is the defending champion. These two met in the UK final last month and both come in as two of the three tournament favourites. The leading favourite, however, is non other than Ronnie O'Sullivan - Masters champion on four previous occasions, The Rocket is always a name who cannot be disregarded for a tournament win. A lot, as ever, will depend on what mood he's in. Ding Junhui has had an excellent season to date, winning three ranking events on the trot. He is also regarded as a likely candidate to go all the way, as is Judd Trump. There is always a chance of a shock name coming through to win the tournament, but with the Masters featuring the best 16 players in the world, anything could happen when the players take to the baize at the Ally Pally.

Nice one Tino
Like I said earlier there is a thread for next weekend's snooker shoot out, check the board out it's at the top I believe.
I'll get a thread up for the Welsh Open which is usually available to watch on the BBC Sport website - that starts on 19 February.
Barring that, hopefully see you all back for Ronnie's World title defence in mid-April.

RKW - to be honest, the result wasn't unexpected, but of course any loss hurts. We weren't terrible, but without Rooney and RVP, we lack real quality. We have never been so dependent on 2 players, and without them, against the top teams, we look very average. Good solid squad players, but not enough gems in the team, it's as simple as that for me.

. If Ronnie does forge ahead, we will get countless references from the commentators about how Selby has come back before, so don't right him off etc.

Yes, Kinsang, it drove me mad. Because that's exactly what happened. By the end, the commentators were actually wishing for it. They couldn't have been plainer if they had jumped in front of a camera and shouted "PLEASE LET THERE BE A DECIDER!"
