Would Manchester United and Chelsea fans take this now?
There were reports in the summer that Chelsea offered this, which were quickly denied.
Chelsea clearly need a striker, and United are in need of creativity and an efficient ball retainer to link midfield and attack.
Plus, I can't see Rooney staying at OT if they finish below 4th. They won a title and he still wanted out ffs. Mata also wants game time, so it seems fairly logical if you only consider that aspect.
Mata <---> Rooney (Swap Deal)

Simon I do see your point mate. It's not new. I even remember the great Leeds team in 69 playing with similar attributes. Reaney and Cooper overlapping like fack, Lorimer and Gray flying down the wings, a brutal defence with Hunter and Charlton and a midfield of Bremner and Giles that crushed the opposition and "Sniffer" and Jones up front. As you know mate we had a great team at the time also but even Osgood and the boys struggled with that lot. How they didn't win a hell of a lot more I will never know.
Unlucky to lose against Bayern in the 75 European Cup Final.
