I vote for all the heroes (particularly in the emergency services) who have stepped up to the plate to help their fellow citizens cope with the horrendous weather we have had - especially this unnamed chap highlighted below:
Annette de Rohan, whose husband, Prince Raoul, can trace his ancestors back to the French royal family, was struggling to keep her head above water when she was plucked to safety by the Good Samaritan.
The 73-year-old aristocrat had been trying to reach her Briard puppy Fonzinella who had fallen into the River Asker in Bridport, Dorset, when a section of bank crumbled beneath her feet. She plunged into the river and found herself head-deep in the cold water.
It was nearly five minutes before a fellow dog walker heard her screams and pulled Mrs de Rohan and nine-month-old Fonzinella to safety.
She said: “My dog chased a larger dog towards the bank but ended up going into the river and couldn’t get out.
“I tried to lean over and pull her out but the ground just crumbled away and I went in as well. I yelled and yelled for help but I was under the overhang of the bank so no one could see me. The water was up round my nose by then. After about four or five minutes the owner of the other dog appeared and pulled me out. I am quite fit and strong but this was really scary.”
Dripping wet and exhausted but otherwise unhurt, Mrs de Rohan, of Beaminster, Dorset, went to meet her 81-year-old husband and was taken home.

steve, while that is a good shout, think of me and my 13 yr old son that battled thru the elements to drive 400 miles to play 5's with Murney and co only to get there and it was called off..can you imagine this disappointment on my little lads face as i broke the news to him? ( i was really going up to visit my sons grave as it would have been his bday), he was devastated.
