Just seen this on the website.
“He didn’t say he wasn’t in the right frame of mind – he said he didn’t want to play at Gillingham – those were his words.
No way KJ would directly lie and Hennessy hasn't challenged it.
Well pi$$ off you pile of s$$$ - those were my words.

Gulp...I actually think that everybody deserves a mistake or two, he's a young, immature (what footballer isn't) kid, he probably doesn't have a great support network around him (agents and no family), he's probably desperate for attention given he has been our number one for so long and may have been loaned out again, he may have changed his mind and realised his mistake in time if the game had been at home and the team hadn't left already.
I think there are real instances of betrayal (Camara, Odemwingie etc.) but I would accept an apology and move on from this if that's what the club want to do.
In a perfect world, nobody would make mistakes but everybody does. Unfortunately for Hennessey, his makes the national press and has major repercussions.
If you can put your hand on your heart and say absolutely honestly that not once in your life have you made a petulant, rash, stupid mistake...then by all means throw your vitriol at Hennessey. But I for one won't believe you

Whether you believe it or not Ulf I can put hand on heart and say I've never run out on people when they need me although its cost me some beatings.
I've been all sorts of a prat but I would never do that.

Maybe not your mates Wolfgang but you've never once in your life called in sick or made an excuse about not being able to work?
Hennessey doesn't owe us any more than any employee, he doesn't support Wolves, he isn't our family. It's unfortunate but I think it is unfair to hold him to those standards. Don't get me wrong, if he hadn't apologised and had refused to play for us again I would like to see him hung, drawn and quartered...but I can forgive him one mistake.
Anyway - I wasn't talking about specifically letting someone down - any mistake at all, because that's the point of a mistake isn't it, it isn't something you'd normally do.

I disagree, Ulf, Hennessey owes us a great deal more. Wolves stood by him at his lowest ebb, when he damaged his ligaments, not once, but twice. Wolves continued to pay him despite two relegations, when Wolves' finances were shrinking, provided the best medical treatment and aided his rehabilitation.
Now I understand that Wolves were probably contractually obliged to do this and it was also in Wolves' interests to do this, but we did it nonetheless.
We didn't ask him to play when he wasn't quite fit or try to sell him on; we stood by him.
The one time that we asked him to stand by (probably) his contractual obligations and also his team mates, he refused. Whether poorly advised or whether his own decision, it stinks!
No forgiveness in this instance from me.

THE PLOT THICKENS
@karlhenry08: @WayneHennessey1 is a fantastic professional who has been treated like $$$$ by Kenny Jacket. @OfficialWolves

Hennessey was clearly wrong to opt out of playing last week but he seems to regret that now and has apologised and I hope that closes the matter.
I do think Jackett was wrong to announce that conversation on national tv. This should all have been dealt with behind closed doors and then everyone would have found it easier to move on.

Actually, we haven't heard from Hennessey, we have again heard from Jackett, but that's by the by.
It is disappointing. He says that he was ill-advised, it would be interesting to hear where he received that advice from.
I don't think that a man should be measured by his mistakes but how he learns from and responds to them. He has apologised and that is all he can do for now.
I agree with Ulf that he doesn't owe the club anything. I know the club supported him whilst he was injured, but if an employee is injured whilst carrying out their job and it is not through their own negligence, by law the employer is duty bound to pay the employee and aid their recovery. It would be exactly the same if any of us on this forum were injured at work. It would be a completely different matter if he injured himself in the manner Ikeme did last season.
If he pulls on a Wolves shirt again and gives his all, I will happily support him. It will be interesting to see how he reacts if, in a few weeks time, none of the interested parties have met the clubs valuation. I think it would take a bigger man to admit he's wrong and face all those fans, like Perton and his mate, who will boo and call him every name under the sun, than it would just to disappear.
If he refuses to play again, then I'm happy for Perton to burn the effigy he's currently building.
All this depends on whether Jackett will pick him again of course.

I agree. I think the most worrying think is how Jackett seems to handle players. Quite a few seem to be disgruntled, Batth still hasn't signed a new contract and he seems to fire up situations such as this one. You can tell he came from Millwall.
I think this issue has clouded over the real issue we should be talking about. That is our current slump which appears to have been caused by Jacketts excessive tinkering. Whether that was intentional, who knows?

I don't blame Hennessey at all. He was talking to Arsenal before his injury and would definitely be playing in the Premier if he hasn't been injured.
He is far too good to be on the bench in League One. I'm also concerned by the way Jackett is alienating some players. His handling of Griffiths has been really poor who could have been a real star for us this season. I'm sure that his form has been affected by Jacketts criticism and by being in and out of the team.
The tinkering is a big concern as is the repeated selection of ineffective players such as Cassidy and Edwards.
If he doesn't get us in the top two at the end of the season then it must be considered a huge failure given our squad and resources in relation to the rest of League One.
