Afternoon all, Happy New Year!

In two minds about the draw, its not a money spinner for us but it is atleast one we could win and then get a big team in the next round. We seemed a bit lucky to get the result in the end on Saturday but the fact that Paterson keeps scoring is good enough for me as we need him right now.

Whats the crack with Vaughan? Is he on a long injury or something, we need him back ASAP!

Darn, I'm sure Bell and Pieterson are going home. I bet Charlton are sick of playing us!

Just what we don't need. New manager syndrome. .. Ian Holloway takes over at Millwall.

Perfect club for him....he.s a screw loose and so have the fans....milwall or leeds the perfect fit

Holloway is easy to get wound up and in the New Den I can see him getting sent to the stand quite a bit! Millwall didnt get the bounce teams often get for sacking the manager so maybe the problems will take a bit longer to sort out. Aslong as we take the game to them we will be fine, if we back off then they will have bitten our ankles off by half time!

Seems the Charlton pitch needs to be dug up in the summer..

17 years since they installed the drainage pipes underneath and a few have broken, hence the water stays on the pitch. Expect , given the weather forecasts, they'll struggle to play any home games this side of Easter .

They are however hoping by covering the playing area with a 'balloon' it might enable the replay to take place next week.

Wonder how well the JSS pitch drains, maybe with the river right next door that helps us, but the water flow down the Kilner Bank hill must have somewhere to go one would hope...otherwise...?

As an aside, i was wondering when they might build a supporters lounge/bar at the back of the Kilner Stand, into the hillside...and even some executive boxes along the back of the seats...even an upper tier ?

Roll on Premier League eh...

The land our stadium was built on is massively poluted, its an ex ICI space and I think there are some pretty bad nasties in the ground. They would have remediated around the area of the pitch but not the associated areas and I would expect the drainage to therefore by pretty damn good. Drainage tends to go when the ground subsides and therefore forces are put upon the pipes. Because of the ground conditions we have I expect they put some solid made ground there and put everything on top and so that shouldnt be a problem for us. To be fair the only issue we have had is the turf and that is a common problem for dual use stadia as it doesnt ever get enough time to bed in as their isnt a full "off season" as it were.

Our stadia was designed with a degree of flexibility so I suspect if we ever get to the top there would be more development there. The issue is it isnt just our stadium so there would need to be a business case to justify spending a couple of million on improvements and who would ultimately pay for it. Given we have the shares back we have more say in that but if the Council and rugby club say no we wouldnt get it done.
