don't wanna be negative on this beautiful Sunday morning, but.....we have
1) a manager that is clueless and wants to bet the farm with the houses' money (ie ours)-he should have look at the great managers of the past to see how they set their teams up-has not done his homework. this team has no balance, no heart, no authority and no will to win-even the rubbish teams can cause us problems. more than that, they seem to expect to go behind, before they catch their breath and think about playing.
2) a defense where 3 or 4 of defenders have a match loosing mistake in them. Walker apart, who alone has improved this term-don't get me started on Rose or Dawson;
3) a lot of injuries-the worst in the PL. one suspects tat a lot of these are comfort injuries-where the players don't have the heart for the battles ahead, and are just looking to keep themselves fresh for the world cup;
4) a spending policy that has no basis in reality-we put money into areas we don't need (recently midfield) and ignore the most vital area-as if it will look after itself (Defence). our most expensive acquisition cant make the bench and wants to go out on loan to enhance his WC prospects-when was the last time had a decent left back? Cyril ("nice one") Knowles?
and don't get me started on the no of managers we have had over the last 10 yrs. the dismissal compensation paid would have given us a whole new team
yesterdays performance we gutless. the Man U result was great and welcomed, but I always had the feeling that had we gone behind or even not gone 2 up, we would have been roasted.
so all in all, bad scenario going into 2014, and we will do well to say in the top 8. I boooody hope I am wrong, but the signs are there for anyone (Levy) that cares to look.
rant over-cornflakes now
too many Strikes against?????

playing a 2 man midfield against a 3 man midfield is always risky.
Playing a 2 man midfield against a 3 man midfield when that 3 man midfield is part of currently the best team in the country is pretty silly.
Playing a 2 man midfield against a 3 man midfield when that 3 man midfield is part of currently the best team in the country, and one of your 2 men is a teenager making his debut in the starting 11 is downright idiotic.
Sherwood got it badly wrong. I hope he learns from it, but I'm not convinved.

I have a brand new concept , it might sound strange
It's revolutionary, no other team is doing it...
Get behind the manager and back the team,

That's not a brand new idea Thudd, I keep seeing it on here and questioned someone saying it yesterday.
I get the impression that when posters say it what they actually mean is:
"I post balanced, constructive criticism but everyone else is just having a moan."
These forums, and discussions in pubs etc are what being a supporter are all about. We all have opinions, good or bad, and like to voice them.
Cos we all know what is the best thing to do, don't we?

Sorry my friend, I think this is too over the top. I think you should've had your bowl of cornflakes before you wrote this.
4-4-2 against Arsenal's midfield is naive, but this is SHerwood's (5th?) game in charge? He was trying something. He was a little late in realising it wasn't working (Rose's c ock-up didn't help), but hopefully.....he'll learn. Don't forget, Harry did this same formation against the Gooners when we lost 5-2 and a lot of people on here still sing his praises. Give Sherwood the benefit of the doubt on this one for now.
Agree that the defence does worry me. Whenever there is a one on one with one of our defenders I have little confidence of us coming out on top. That's why it's important to have a good holding midfielder, and in games like yesterday, ideally 3 in midfield. But, hopefully with Sandro back (maybe Capoue could do a job too) and Sherwood learning from the above mistake, we'll have more protection to our back four.
The most frustrating thing for me at the moment, that you didn't mention, is our attacking full-backs. They leave our defence even more vulnerable but don't actually offer nearly enough attacking threat to balance it out. Hopefully some competition in the LB spot and more time this season with the team gelling will see that improve.
Yes there are worries. But things could still come good. Enjoy your cornflakes.

Might be a negative outlook but it's pretty accurate. The main thing missing from that list is our impotent strikers.
Despite the góoner talk of a stroll yesterday, we had enough chances to get something out of that game but the front men let us down (incl. Lennon and Eriksen)
