A genuine question.
Did Martinez turn down Liverpool but took the Everton job as he considered Everton to be the better long term prospect?

Exactly. ...
He is using the same squad. We need another managerIin to implement your wish of a squad of young players.

As Lawro once predicted " you won't win anything with kids"
Or was that Hanson?

Hansen I think. You need a good blend of youth and experience in my opinion you can have all the talent in the world but a well drilled disciplined and experienced pro can offer a different quality that imo is essential to guide young players.
That's why I think McCarthy is doing so well he has Barry there alongside him.

Blackbeard, a nice mix helps. Imagine McCarthy lined up with another young player

I have always hoped for a manager with a long term plan, one who not having a big transfer budget would develop a squad of young players who build themselves into a team playing the managers style, and to his football philosophy

Some would mix youth with youth.

Jelavic off to Hull by the looks of it.
You guys got a striker lined up? Leaves you a bit light with Kone injured.
