Going on the premise that we are never going to win it, we should allow our youngsters to get big game experience... Here is a team that I think will not only get good big game experience, but also have a good chance of getting out the group...
------------------------Hart
Walker-----Jones----Jagielka....Gibbs
--------------Barkley----Wilshere
Oxlade---------------Rooney-----------Wellbeck
------------------------Sturridge

England team for the WC

With that team and approach you're basically going to have to sacrifice any kind of retention of the football so as to play a very fast paced counter attacking game.
While I don't think that's necessarily the worst thing for England (you have poor ball retention at the best of times), this would hurt you terribly when playing in the heat of the Amazon. It's a hugely draining way of playing (fast bursts, chasing the ball when the other team passes it around) and I don't know if it's the best way to approach this particular world cup.

Ivan, perhaps a bit of a sacrifice, but to be honest, I think if you can pin the opposition back a bit with the threat of Lennon and Townsend, then it will help give a lot of room for the core of the team - Rooney, Barkley, Carrick, and Wilshere, all of whom are very good technically - to help dictate proceedings.
Having said that, you make a very good point about the conditions in Brazil. This is the sort of style I've wanted England to play for a while, so I didn't really give much thought to the World Cup istelf, but you're right; a team reliant on pace and athleticism might struggle with such heat and humidity.

Good idea to use the spurs players as wide forwards to save any arsenal injuries, I like that lol

JR that team looks pretty capable. I don't rate Johnson though, he irritates me. Swap him for Richards or Walker maybe, but that is just my preference!

Based on form Lallana should be ahead of any other winger right now.
