Young defender joins Cheltenham on loan
Michael Ihiekwe has joined Cheltenham Town on a month’s loan.
The central defender, a regular captain for Wolves’ Under-21s, is now set to enjoy a first taste of senior football at Whaddon Road.
The Liverpool-born 21-year-old has twice been an unused substitute for Wolves’ first time, for the Capital One Cup tie at Morecambe at the start of the season and the Sky Bet LeagueOne game at Gillingham last Friday.
Ihiekwe goes straight into the Robins’ squad for tomorrow’s trip to Burton Albion.

Ihiekwe is a good prospect I think. Hope they like his scouser accent in the Cotswolds

I've always heard he is a good prospect, but at 21 you would have thought he would made an impression on the first team squad now or at least had previous loan moves.
This is a big opportunity for him to make an impression at first team level. I hope he takes it because it would be good to have yet another youth player pushing for the first team.

Didn't realise he had reached 21 so yes its time he turned his promise into progress. Always looked full of confidence and comfortable on the ball and seemed a better prospect than Ebanks Landell when I saw him for the U21s. But loans to play in competitive games is a much bigger challenge and I hope he does well
