Although it is maybe too early to press the panic button the alarm bells must be starting to ring at Pittodrie. Having watched them perform ok against St. Johnstone it was glaringly obvious to anyone watching that we are toothless up front with no imagination or creativity in the final third.
Last season the only 2 players who gave any sort of flair were Aluko and Maguire. Both have now left and I would have thought that Brown was experienced enough to know that reinforcements up front were urgently needed. But what happens....nothing. How can you expect to win games without having anything up front. Aberdeen are very boring to watch and unless this changes I'm afraid the crowds will continue to dwindle even further.
Brown keeps saying that we have until the end of August before the transfer window shuts so there is still time for a new player. Quite frankly this is not good enough. He is basically saying that it is acceptable to 'write off' the first 6 games or so until we get someone in on the cheap at the end of the month. I had hoped for better from Brown and the fans are being short changed. We needed to have the squad in place before the first game of the season so we could hit the ground running. However, the way we are going we will be quite a few points adrift of the very teams we hope to be competing with for a top 6 place.
In addition we keep hearing about how the new players have made us more difficult to beat and we won't take a 'beating' from anyone. Well you can chuck that right out of the window, another long and depressing season ahead I'm afraid.

According to SOS a loan deal fro Leigh Griffiths from Wolves should be tied up this week.

That is a step in the right direction but why do we have to wait until we have played 4 or 5 games. We are already playing catch up and any early season enthusiasm from the fans is already starting to wane.

Like you say, new players should have been sorted out before the season started, however, I don't believe there is any impetus or leadership coming from the boardroom. Craig Brown needs to be given 100% support from the top and I don't believe he's getting it. Say what you like about Mad Vlad, he takes radical action when he sees things are not progressing the way he wants it, our board just sit on their hands hoping things might get better. Not that I'm wanting Brown punted, I think he can do a job for us, but he needs to be given the tools with which to do it.
Crowds are a major concern this season, unless things buck up we will be down to 6-8 thousand by November, hence adding significantly to the debt, but the board just don't seem to get this. I'm almost tired of saying this, but unless the board takes action, and I'm all ears for their solution, things will continue to slide, as they have done for the past 15-20 years. Inaction at the top is killing our club.
