Greetings gooners, Jiminy Cricket here, New to ja606.
I wanted to discuss the possible transer business(es) we could conduct in the remaining 2 weeks.
January hasnt really panned out as we would have hoped in terms of transers and most definitely on the injury front. We were perhaps browsing but not in any real need of a signing before Walcotts injury. But the situation seems to have become more urgent. With our aparent targets unavailable for transfer this month, it is highly likely we will have to settle for a stop gap signing.
We have been linked with Berbatov in recent weeks, but i get the feeling an Henry loan could be a real posibility. Arsene dismissed this idea, but that was before walcott's injury. He's been training with us now for over a month so his fitness levels must of improved. He might not be a spring chicken but his technical ability certainly hasn't deserted him.
What would you guys make of this. Could it happen? Would you be satisfied?
Henry return increasingly likely?

We're not even halfway through January yet - and on the transfer front it's gone exactly how I would have expected.
The only seat Henry will occupy is in the stands, gawd bless 'im.

Why do you feel AW will only bring in a loanee or “stop gap”?
He has done significant business in Jan before and surely has the foresight to realise that to challenge for silverware we need a viable partner/back up for Giroud.
There are plenty of options available and the cash to acquire them.

IMO AW will bring in a forward.
He has to if we are to continue to challenge. Also in light of Walcott’s injury I am convinced he will sign someone.

What significant business could we do Stuart?
We are heavily linked with Draxler, but if that was to happen, i can only see that happening in the summer.
Benzema, Costa, etc are important players in their team with no replacements for them.
Dont expect much from this month dude, or you will be left disappointed.

History suggests that AW will recruit this month. Whether it is the big name signing fans want remains to be seen.
It is impossible to compete on three fronts with one recognised forward. AW does not see Podolski as a viable ‘number 9’ or he would have deployed him there more frequently.

Last year we bought Nacho because Gibbs suffered an injury.
This summer we had the whole summer and didn't do anything in the striker department until the final day when we tried to get demba ba on loan.
Unless bendtner is being sold, which is unlikely now, I just can't see anyone being bought in.
