According to the following article, we have put in a bid for Al Ahly's versatile defender Ahmed Fathi. I knew we were interested in Al Ahly youngster Mahmoud Trezeguet, but this is the first, I've heard we are in for the Egyptian international. I'm guessing this is cover for the outgoing Hobbs. What does everyone think of Fathi and is he an improvement over Hobbs?

Wassa,
So you are on here to tell us what a great signing Fathi would be and how Reading and Hull are being pedantic with the whole Hobbs thing. My mistake. I thought you were being sarcastic, but as it turns out you are quite a happy fellow aren't you.

Kind of glad. In two articles I've seen him called a right back, a centre back, and a DM - we don't need any more players that we don't know where to play.

I'm still hoping we sign Al Mutawa, I have 5,000 Darth Bader T shirts I need to get rid of.

Isn't he in the army now?
Thought he'd had to give up football after being called up for National service.
I really wanted us to sign him

No idea what he's up to now, but it would have been interesting if we'd signed him.
Not sure why we bid for this Egyptian though, the only thing I can think of is for the benefit of our TV deal with Al Jazeera...

It's funny that a number of ours fans are annoyed that our first bid for this guy has been turned down despite probably being the same people who were wondering why the hell we were going for him?
If your first bid is accepted for anything then more often than not, your paying over the odds. I found that with a house I purchased and put an offer in that was immediately accepted despite being what we thought was a good distance from the asking price.
We found out why later on
