With the upcoming departure of Defoe how in all seriousness can we not be looking at replacing him in this transfer window.
Firstly we have Soldado, yes he has had some nice touches but lets face it so far he has been a flop. I do not care he has 11 goals (all comps) he has scored ONE goal from open play in more than half a season. For a 26m player that is an embarrassment. Will he improve? Yes I think he will but I would not count on it being this season.
The we have Adebayor who we all know if he is on song he can be as good as anyone, if he is not we might as well have anyone from the crowd upfront. Can we really rely on him to keep performing all season, not get injured, or not have some other family issue that causes him to have to head of around the world.
So that leaves Harry Kane who if memory serves has never scored a prem goal for us. So as we are now playing 4-4-2 two of those 3 will most likely play, but if I am honest I don't think we can really count on any of them to do the business from now to may. Not buying a striker is a big risk in my opinion but then again who could we really get of quality in this window. I would rather stick Aaron Lennon upfront as a target man than sign Steven Fletcher or Shane Long according to those awful rumours.
Strikers - We need one

Spurs need defenders more than a striker at the moment. At the moment Spurs have a mixture of crocks and not very good defenders.

You ate aware that Defoe will most probably beloaned back to us till the end of March?
Simple fact is we won't sign a decent striker without paying way over the odds in January. Why will clubs want to part with their best players half way through a season? It'd take a ridiculous bid to pry a good striker away from a club. And even then, he has to be the type of player we actually need.
Then only player I can think of is Hernandez. him playing off Ade or Soldado would be brutal. But again, United wouldn't sell in Jan, especially not to a competitor for top 4.

After all the debates about who should play "Defoe or Soldado", and the heavy support of Soldado, i wonder how long it will be after his departure that we'll be getting articles &/or posts claiming that we need "a Defoe type striker"?
I'm missing him already and he's still got another month....

Don't shoot me down just yet but...... I would loan Kenwyne Jones till the end of the season. Stoke have signed a man city striker on loan so will let him go, he will be cheap on wages, he's a good target man and would be ideal if ade and soldado got injured.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but Kenwyne Jones would be a pretty shocking addition IMO. I would put him in the Carlton Cole bracket, except he scores less.
