Eye off the ball?

Having hammered ( no pun intended ) West Ham United, in a highly enjoyable afternoon on trentside the other week, we've seen ourselves create a tie with League One play off hopefuls Preston North End. A tie in which i'd like to think we could win. Without getting ahead of myself, progress to the fifth round would see our fixture with Leicester at the CG rearranged. This would then create a bit of a fixture pile up. As we're due to play Huddersfield on the tuesday before, a fifth round game on the saturday/sunday.

A question for Forest fans. Would you like to see us maintain a winning habit. And see us go far in this years cup competition. Or ..... play the youngsters against PNE ( not that i could see Billy doing that anyway ) see what happens. If we go through, great. If we don't, the aim was always getting out this league in the first place

The squad is not as deep as people think, and as much as I think it's a fine balance it's a distraction for me. I do respect the FA Cup and IF we can strengthen and progress by using some fringe players then all well and good.

Winning breeds confidence and players who are desperate to play. Doesn't matter what the competition is. All this rubbish about concentrating on the league is self defeating.
Good point about the great teams Of the 70's and 80's. Much smaller squads and players nowhere near as fit as today's supposed athletes but they got on with it and took every game seriously, even friendlies.

I still don't understand why any team would ever not do everything they can to win every game. Mental.

I don't get it either SHH. I manage a Sunday league team and the only time it's ever crossed my mind is in 1st round of cup where losers go into an easier cup competition and I knew we had no chance of winning the harder cup. We actually tried to lose at penalties once but still won!!
