I went to Gillingham in '65 or '66...we lost 0-1, undeservedly. Their fans were dire, obviously loving the ultra defensive football they played at home. The place was truly awful and I knew then I'd never go back.
Years later the play off victory at Selhurst Park was sweet and went some way to alleviate my trauma.
As for tomorrow I'm not confident. A win would go a long way to make up for Tuesday's disappointment but I don't see it coming. I'd be happy to just avoid another defeat.

Don,
I went to a game there at the same sort of time. I don't know whether it was the same one because losing 1-0 there was quite common in away games then. I remember that it cost me a lot of paper round money to get there on the train & getting there I wasn't impressed with the place.
There has always been a bit of animosity between the 2 clubs. People have there own ideas about what started that. But, I can recall a game against them at the CG , which we won narrowly. In that game, Peter Downsborough was accused of smashing the ball into their CF's face. He was ugly anyway, so it didn't matter. I used to collect autographs after the game, & this guy signed for me but with a comment that our keeper was not a nice person. I still think that incident soured the relationship between the clubs.

Red, I was on Stratton Bank when Downsborough 'dapped' their centre forward in the face with the ball. We all thought it was hilarious. All the more so when it went totally unpunished!
