buy a player for a lot of money (probably too much money) that other clubs want but can't have because we outbid them and we are a better club etc.
Just for once.
Go on.
Show us some ambition.
Just for once
Thank you
Just for once Leeds...

"Eh is that not how you ended up in the position you are in?"
Amazing how people on the outside notice, but people on the inside want to do it again!.
chu, auto's is a big ask but not imposible, play off's are more like but the team have to earn them!..
Stability is the order and as has been said by others, building for the future has to be right, teams like the one we played yesterday have spent in the last few seasons more then us and are now getting to where they want to be!..
A waste of time going to far without the foundations to stay there!.

Completely agree with OP. I said on a different forum yday that "Wouldn't it be nice to sign a player that makes you go straight to the club shop and get his name on your shirt"
We wish, Snoddy or Beckford was the last time that happened, that was after they had made an impact

All I'm saying is that I remember Southampton once being in exactly our position floundering about in the Championship. then they spent about 2 million on a certain Rickie Lambert and he single handedly got them promotion - including as I recall the winning goal against us at ER when we were all over them for 90 minutes.
He had once chance, bang, cool finish, 1-0, 3 pts see ya!
Sometimes one player can make all the difference to a whole team.
Jason Roberts at Reading springs to mind too

Lufcgermany cheers for the feedback.
Championship has to be one of the hardest leagues in the world and it gets harder ever year with EPL clubs dropping down.
I dont know if your youth academy has any exciting prospects coming though? I do remember you had some excellent players come through when in the Prem league. Maybe you just need a good batch of players all at the right time supplemented by a few older pros have experienced promotion pushes?
Its a MASSIVE gamble to spend over the top transfer fees and wages with very little guarantee you'll be promoted see QPR as an example.
Leeds are historically a massive club and probably should be in the prem hope your season pans put well for you.

Hammertime , lambert was 1 mill and evens saints were in div3
Apart from that sentiment is spot on, saints showed ambition (i remember people slaughtering me for saying that at time on 606) and it paid off for them in leapfrogging us.

Hammertime I completely agree. The last player we bought that made a difference was McCormack. Grayson, Warnock and so far McDermott have generally bought - or usually loaned - players that came to us for one reason only. They were so low on form that no-one else was prepared to pay their wages. Why haven't any of these managers realised that we need the proverbial midfield general - preferably an older player who commands respect and leads by example. In the Sheffield Wednesday debacle, where was Austin when our defence needed to be read the riot act? Like the rest of them, he was in denial. It's not rocket science – buy fewer but better quality players and we will succeed.
