The Daily Record has picked up on a story that the team will be stopping in at a 4 star hotel in Carnousite for a spot of lunch and book rooms for the players to nap in during our trip to the game tonight.
I've spoken before about how I hate this 'big club' mentallity and spending but in the week where players were asked to discuss taking a 15% wage cut, how can this expense be justified?
Seriously, we are playing part timers Forfar who are less than a 2 hour journey away. Is there really any need for the players to swing by a posh hotel for what will undoubtedly be a pricey lunch and rooms to nap in?
Would the easy option not just be for players to meet at Murray Park after they have a long lie in then lunch at home?
How many other clubs in Scotland, several of who have better finances than ourselves, would do this sort of thing?
If we really are losing cash at worrying rate then jollys like this should be stopped once and for all.
If I was a player, I'd feel sick that I was being asked to take a pay cut while this sort of activity still goes on.
Team Stopping at Carnoustie Hotel?

I think the team stays at a hotel before every game, home and away, though I could be wrong about that. It's good for team bonding though, Kyle Hutton takes his portable DVD player and his Homeland boxset and everyone sits around watching it, while Durrant and McDowall go get everyone Nando's.

Joking aside though, I think it is something which could easily be cutback. Otherwise, we're just hemorrhaging cash to keep the players pampered.

Agreed bluenose. Not sure it would save much over a season but it's a start

Most likely not, but it isn't something which the club should be shelling out for at the moment. Also I wonder if staying at hotels might have something to do with our slow starts away from home. There could be a culture shock from staying in luxury rooms - which they are, they don't stay in crap hotels - going into cramped wee dressing rooms with poor facilities. The away performances we play well in, is generally the grounds with better facilities (i.e. Clyde's stadium last year, Airdrie this year and Dunfermline, all grounds which were built to SPL criteria.)
If the players want to stay at hotels before games, then so be it, but they should be making a contribution towards it.

The kants shouldn't really need to be staying in hotels for many Scottish fixtures. It's just a wee country

Aye, they stay at Cameron House the night before games in Glasgow and down in the west I believe. A needless cost, imo.

Agree 100% with all posts. I hope tonight's performance matches their 4 star hotel but I doubt it. Totally insane and the fans should know what it costs - a lot more than Bombastic's 20 peple more like 30-40 people. Come on Wallace be accountable & public with the fans money.
