After all the uproar of the 2-2 draw on the weekend, we still remain in 4th, with our destiny still very much in our own hands.
On the flip side, if we'd won the game it would have given us a bit of breathing space going forward. However, I still can't believe some of the reactions on this site. Yes Rodgers made a mistake in his team selection and yes the vast majority of the team had stinkers but we didn't lose and showed that this team does have the fight for fourth.
The injury to Lucas will probably give a timely reminder to BR and FSG of the need of another midfielder and the Salah transfer seems to have picked up some pace today. For those saying we don't need Salah, we do. We have very few effective attacking options off the bench. If we get him we'd have Sturridge, Suarez, Sterling, Coutinho, Salah to choose from from those front three positions with Alberto, Moses and Aspas also available. Salah is also a different sort of player to what we have and provides BR with options not only to change the playing personnel, but also the system that we play
After all that uproar...

yeah agreed ttliv, the gap could be much bigger. However, you can't win them all and whilst it is an opportunity dropped some of the reactions on here have been ridiculous

If Lucas is injured then that Fernando from Porto might come into the equation. I haven't seen much of him but he appears to be fairly highly rated and he's out of contract at the end of the year I believe so this window is Porto's last chance to get a fee.

Could have been a 3,4 and 8 point gap though. Next week could have been a 6,7 and 8 point gap if we had won yesterday. I know it's brilliant that we're still 4th, but it just makes me hate our result even more

Don't you think Everton fans are saying exactly the same tonight?

there's a lot of fuss about getting 4th place, personally, i'm not sure 4th is very helpful. I want 3rd, with automatic CL qualification. that way we know we're in, can budget properly, and get signings done early.
if we get 4th, we still need to play the qualifying round. so there's no guarantee we'll be in Europe until the season's almost started, which makes budgeting harder, and makes getting in the right standard of player a lot harder. they'll want to wait until they know we've qualified, which then makes it hard to get them signed and integrated into the team for the start of the season.
