With the quality in the Spain ranks he's got no choice but to move. Man united are the only team who'll definitely pay up now and he's guaranteed first team football there...... Although they're so 5hite right now that the likes of Luke Chadwick, ronnie wallwork and jordi cruyff would all get picked too

I agree. But I'm presuming it has something to do with Rooney somewhere along the line. Just have to wait and see.

What a rubbish way to negotiate, firstly we could of had Rooney this summer if Mata went to United or not.
Secondly you wouldn't give someone an asset like Mata with a deal hoping you will get an asset in return sometime in the future.
Thirdly Rooney is more likely to come if United is on its knees finish 6th. Not if they have the best PL player from last season playing behind him.
If we were to sell him it would only be acceptable if Rooney also came to Chelsea in January.

King of the Bridge, it is going to be highly unlikely that Rooney is leaving Man U for now. I think selling one of your best players to a team that is temporarily down is absolutely nuts. I know Mata is unsettled and I know Jose is a stubborn bastad, but this is baffling!

can only hope that we've wriggled a first option on Rooney clause in this deal, and even then i wouldn't be too thrilled
honestly, 10 years trying to topple them from the top and now we're sending them a player who could well help take them back there (not talking this season, n the longer run)
couldn't we have sent him to Atletico as part of a deal for Costa
