Is it any easier yet?

I had no sleep at all last night just trying to fathom WHY we would sell to Utd.

Well i am no closer to understanding what this does for us.

We will now have a downbeat dressing room, very angry fans (again) and less options should we get an injury.

We have strengthened a rival who for the first time in decades looked to be dropping out of europe and would have struggled to sign top players to strengthen next season.
Well now they can strengthen properly so WILL be title challengers next year again. Just look what Ozil did for Arsenal. Juan will have the same if not MORE of an impact.

I guess i am a little calmer as i was a right 8itch yesterday but stil cannot bear the feeling that i will get seeing my favorite player playing for them.

It has made me think though, is Mata leaving because he is not up for the fight? Perhaps does not think he needs to prove anymore than he has. If that is the case then it will mean that he does not think he needs to improve anymore. Heck Moyes isn't going to improve him is he?

If the above is true then it may be seen in a couple of years that we have made a good deal by getting the best out of a player and then selling him for a hefty profit whilst not being too damaging to our domestic cause.

Or...... i am just clinging blindly to any hope that my beloved club know what they are doing.

JM doesn't fancy Mata (football wise), like JM does at most clubs he goes to he'll target a bigwig in the dressing room/club. Happens to be Mata this time. If he can get him out it solidifies his position in the club (if RA agrees then Mourinho knows he's in charge of the football side). For Mourinho its always about control of the football side of things. When he loses that he tends to sulk and leave.

Wenger on Juan Mata move to Man Utd. "I am surprised. Juan Mata is a great player and they sell a great player to a direct opponent. #CFC

Even Wenger (hypocrite) is rubbing it in.

Nick I've seen Lukaku play plenty this, but I doubt you have. His first touch and control in tight situations is still horrible, with the space he would get at Chelsea as a striker he will fail miserably. Just have a talk with Everton fans on their page.

Mata is world class in a free role no doubt, I'd say he is probably one of the best in the world playing in a free role between the lines. However he is no way in hell going to get that free role at Chelsea. We have moved on from that to a more solid hard working fluid counter attacking team, or trying to get there. I'm waiting to see how United are going to fit him into their system. Rooney is doing well from AM, and RVP when fit I don't see Mata starting above one of those. Which leaves him to playing on the wing, which I definitely do not think he is suitable for.

For United I do see this as a long term buy, and the fact they bought him in January for slightly above his value imo is a bit panicky, as they would rather have him now then in summer with no CL, if they finish outside top 4.

How I see this as a long term buy for them is that Mata and Rooney could easily form a partnership for the next 3 seasons at least, with RVP being the glass he is being phased out. So I guess United will now try everything to get Rooney to sign up a new 2-3 year extension over the summer, and maybe look to move on Young and Nani and build their wings from the ground up with Januzug and a few signings. This rebuilding will take some time, but they will do it, if we gave them Mata or not. It's best we focus on our team and squad and look to become better than the new benchmark now which is City.

United were lacking a midfielder. After spending near £70m you still lack a midfielder.

At least now it puts paid to the question of what's happened to the Ronaldo money.

Funny how people are fighting with themselves to justify this move, so the past 2 years where you conquered both European competitions in which he shined in is all forgotten because Jose says so??

Imagine Rafa did this? I agree Mata had to go eventually as he's too good for the bench but Jose's soft spot for United should be questioned. I'm sure PSG could offer a sum just as large if the money benefits?

The only way this can be justified is if Rooney goes the other way in the summer but why would United will do everything they can to avoid this, let's be logical.

I doubt youve seen him more than me, and obviously dont remember drogba at that age. And even then, drogbas touch was woeful at times. And I know that our strikers dont get much space but that should also work to his advantage as a two touch player. Like Drogba was.

your poor excuses still dont justify selling him to a rival.Giving them a player who last year was in the best 3 in the league.
