Toni Kroos

Apparently he is refusing to sign a contract extension. Worth a punt?

The new Reus?

As in looks promising, comes from the same club, superficial similarities?

Ever since we bought the New Ronaldinho I've been cautious of these things. Then again, you've probably watched him a lot and I haven't.

I'd rather have the New Schweinsteiger though.

I want the new Katy Perry

Back on Verheijen (courtesy of Wiki) the following doesn't shed a very complimentary light on his classiness or disdain for making self-serving public statements:

Two weeks after the death of Wales' national team manager Gary Speed, Verheijen said that he would like to become the new Wales manager and continue Speed's legacy (he described it as "Gary's wish".[14] His comments courted controversy, Speed had been buried two days earlier and the comments were considered by some to be inappropriate. They were described as "selfish" by former Wales international Iwan Roberts.[15] In January 2012, he suggested that Wales should hire a foreigner as their new manager.[16] Verheijen's contract was due to expire at the end of 2011,[17] but he remained in the position until February 2012, when he resigned.[18] In December 2012 he criticised the FAW, stating that they had "destroyed" the "legacy" of Gary Speed.[19]

Maybe he will be, RR. Schweinsteiger was a failed winger.

DTKF, yes indeed. I remember the first time I saw him play - Euro 2004, I think (back when international tournaments were still the first you saw of a lot of major foreign players) - the commentator mentioned that Schweinsteiger was dubbed the German David Beckham. It seemed laughable at the time that this largely ineffective winger in a regressing German team could aspire to that kind of quality.

Yeah for sure. I remember the German David Beckham tag (even though he played nothing like Beckham) when he came on the scene.

Diesler was given a similar tag as well, although injuries were his problem rather than being a failure on the wing. I think they were expecting Schweinsteiger to be the man they expected Deisler to become - bet they never saw this coming.

Herrmann is definitely a player that would be worthwhile looking at.

Versatile, very quick, technically good, works hard, confident in front of goal, makes clever runs off the ball, he's young, still improving and wouldn't cost an awful lot I don't think, perhaps somewhere in the region of £15-20 million.

I don't really recall seeing him play.
