Mata's gone.
I completely understand the frustration from everyone; he was our best player for the best two years and was an absolute joy to watch. It’s going to be painful to see him play for any other team, let alone for United.
But at the end of the day no one player is bigger than the team. In the last two seasons, as good as Mata has been, to our standard we've not. 6th place in his first season, 3rd place and 14 points off top last season.
This season, he's not been playing and we're 2 points off the top and look a real force again (which realistically we haven't been since 09/10 season)
A big part of that HAS to be down to the fact that he’s not been playing. Mourinho has his philosophy and Mata obviously cannot be part of it. If Mourinho thinks it’s the case, then we should back him because up to now it’s been working.
What’s more is FFP is coming in. I for one think FFP is a brilliant rule and can only improve the competition. We've have been incredibly spoilt these past 10-11 years and have not had to give two sh/ts about who and how we buy. We are no longer gonna be in a position where we can do this and we're acting in a very respectable way by abiding by this rule. £37 million (and a £15 million profit) for a player no longer in our plans is a remarkable bit of business.
As a result we're now gonna use this and the KDB money and invest in areas we're actually in need of strengthening.
Great bit of business, and as incredibly difficult it’s going to be to see him in a united shirt (and it will be) we have to think about the greater good for the team.

Evrrything is fine except
Same old bollox about we finished 6th and 3rd with Mata and with out Mata we are 2nd.
Great nothing to do with managers I guess so Jose has nothing to do with 2nd position

Well evidentially we're not signing Salah 24 hours after agreeing a fee for Mata.

And the FFP argument from people defending this is a slippery slope. If it's suddenly this much of a concern for the club, don't expect Courtois to last on our books much longer.

Well I'm more trying to say that its Jose's decision to drop Mata for a player who's more adapted to his style, and it's paying dividends.
I'm not necessarily saying its just down to Mata not playing, but more pointing out that its Jose's decision to not play him, and with this being the case, we're playing better. Therefore by Jose allowing him go, we should have faith that he knows what he's doing because it's been working up to now.

Yes agree but disagree with the bit about finishing 6th and 3rd.. Mata had very very little to do with us finishing 6th and 3rd.
We might finish 3rd this year aswell by the way.

This article is simplistic nonsense.
Selling Mata is beyond stupid, but I admire how Jose has spun this so all his apologists come out of this thinking they are one step ahead of the game.
