“Chelsea have a close relationship with Everton, having sent striker Romelu Lukaku on loan to Goodison Park. Chairman Bruce Buck and technical director Michael Emenalo met Everton chairman Bill Kenwright in London recently, although the exact reason for the high-powered get-together is not known.
“What is clear is that Chelsea have earmarked Barkley as a key target and Mata’s departure will free up cash and space in Mourinho’s squad to try to get him."
Lukaku is no Costa or Cavani and he will never be a bench warmer again, so let's trade.
Romelu Lukaku for Ross Barkley

I don't see him displacing Oscar but I can see us targeting him as a Lampard replacement.
.......
JM knows what he is going to do with him.
Barkely will take Ramires place following a blinding performance for England this summer.

I would swap Lukaku for Barkley in a heart beat. I just don't think Lukaku will ever be the main striker at Chelsea. Barkley has the potential to be one of the best players in Europe. We can always buy a striker to replace the dross we have now.

Lukaku is still so young, And been showing promise in the top flight(belgium and england) for longer than barkley.
Remember Liverpool have bought players like henderson and adam before on the back of one good season. Whose to say Barkley will be this world beater after only half a season of being a 1st team regular

Can we please just bring Chalobah and Piazon back into the team and give Lukaku a chance?

Lukaku's just done his ankle ligament.

I don't see the hype to be honest.
Barkley is a good player but he doesn't score nor assist, defensively he doesn't do much and he hasn't got pace. I think De Bruyne is a better player than him but even he struggled to make it here.
I watched Liverpool x Everton tonight and Barkley was anonymous. He just gets the credit for Mirallas' work really.
As for a swap with Lukaku I'd say no, even if Mourinho decides against having Romelu here (which I hope he doesn't, as I'd love him here next season) we could fetch a lot of money on a sale instead as he is a world class talent.

Barklay is another over hyped England player
Utd will undoubtedly buy him
