Central Midfield

I don't understand the hype over Sneijder coming. Great player but not vital in our team I don't think. We saw yesterday and in the Community Shield that the team were going forward well and creating chances. However, I think our problems in that CM area are our lack of some steel, of a driving force in our midfield, something we've missed since Keane left. Our problem yesterday was being too open, both Cleverly and Anderson were going forward and WBA just bypassed them completely. Carrick would plug that gap and gives confidence to the CB's but a midfield general would help a lot in that role more than a creative CM would. Sneijder playing behind two strikers would leave us too open especially away from home.
So what players could be available for that role?
Yann M'Vila?
De Rossi?
Other suggestions?

Why do you have to take someone out? What about squad depth, having options, with scholes gone, giggs to get more limited playing time this season most likely, hargeaves gone, fletcher whos been out for a while and will need to be eased in, nobody else needs to be taken out and this will improve our options

You just accused SAF of knowing nothing about football.

Sorry, I was talking about why Fergie hadn't added that type of player in the past.

Yeah of course that type of player will add depth , but as I said previously, it doesn't seem to have affected United since Keane left.

Obviously you, as in yourself, would want a quality player of that ilk...would that not take a big fee, big wages and then possibly the requirement to play as much as possible? Thus changing the way United play and have played recently!

I get what you are saying, I just think that United do not need that type of player...

Fergie talking about Pogba cos Glazers have closed cheque book.

So much for our busier than usual summer, yet more false promises from Mr Gill.

Grow up

We just spent 50mill

If SAF wanted him, we would get him.

He doesn't because he prefers to give youth a chance like he always has

He isn;t going to change his policy just for people like u

I tend to stay out of your threads as u just hope for a Nasri or Sneijder type player however, you are beginning to sound like a plastic.

"If SAF wanted him, we would get him."

I don't think this is entirely true!

Fergie is limited by having to justify signings to the owners, he also I presume has his own limits with regards to fees/wages etc...i don't think it is simply a case of if he wanted someone he would get him, I imagine Fergie would want Messi in his team, using your logic then he would just get him!

You're taking what I said too literally

I meant if SAF saw him as a viable transfer target the he would get him.

He has said a few times now that he doesn't want Sneijder because he is exited by the youth we have here

This season, United are going to be brilliant and I haven't said that for 2 or 3 years now

Ok, sorry!

I had to take it literally because you didn't expand what you were saying, you have now so fair enough!

I am not sure about your optimism, i.e. United are going to be brilliant, I will wait to pass judgement and see how the new signings get on!

I've read a fair few of your comments of late and you do talk alot of sense

Looking at our youngsters in the CS in the second half simply made me feel excited about the upcoming season

Seeing them progress is far more exciting to me that signing a 35mill mercinary.

Tis one of the reasons I love United. Seeing them younguns improve is brilliant to be part of

Nani came good at 22. Ando is 22 now and if he can stay unijured, he'll have his best season with us so far.

Fair play, some of the youngsters at United are exciting talents.

I agree with your assessment of Sneidjer as a mercenary, if the guy wanted to play for United then he would be there now...i don't care what anyone says, these guys are already multi millionaires, if the difference between playing for United is £50k a week then i wouldnt want him at my club!

Anderson to me is an enigma, he has promised so much in the past, maybe he will fulfil his potential this year, but i have reservations about his consistency!
