He's not good enough for us, and if we're honest with ourselves, never has been. This is someone who has never scored more than 5 goals in a whole season and he has only scored 5 goals twice, the last time occurring over 5 years ago. His assists count is equally underwhelming in all those years. For a winger this is poor stuff.
Adam Johnson as an example has scored 6 or 7 goals in his last 5 appearances and contributed to Sunderland's last 9 or 10 goals, and this is someone playing for Sunderland, not a top 5 team hoping to break into the top 4. When was the last time Lennon ever had such good form, where you could say he's been contributing to our goals and build up play 4 or 5 games in a row? I don't remember. It's usually the occasionally good performance against United or a midtable team, then back to being injured or anonymous.
He is not young anymore and there is no sign of him improving. How exactly has he managed to be our 1st choice winger for most of his time with us, after all the money we've spent? We should have upgraded ages ago.

Agree Lennon should be dumped.

Bit late to this.. Lennon's frustrating yes, but just like Soldado, you're not gonna get anything from them without the core of the team being right.
We need someone at the heart of midfield to unlock the other players potential. Current squad, i don't know who the fack that is.

If you had sold Lennon last summer you would have got top money, but now his value is going down like a lead balloon.

You need strong defensive foundations to allow the creative players to flourish. The wafer thin midfield today meant we were chasing backwards for half the game. You can't create facing your own goal.

when you have Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele and Townsend ..... where is Lennon going to fit?

The bench...he'd be a decent impact player when the opposition are tiring

Whether you rate Lennon or not is irrelevant, for years now we have been a better side with him playing than we are without.
Despite what you think of him thats a fact. I think he is a lot more dangerous than you give him credit for purely because teams are scared of his pace and full backs are frightened to push on because they know they will never recover if their move breaks down.
I dont think he is the best player in the world but I do think he is still playing because he is still our best option for wide right.

Some very harsh comments on Lennon in this thread.
He has been a decent player for Tottenham down the years and he will rediscover his best form
