The legend Sir James!

It's been reported in a newspaper today that Coppinger is wanting to sign a new deal at rovers. I hope we do offer him a contract to see out his career here. He's been an excellent loyal servant and provided us and in particular Lanza some great moments

***** from me.by the way xon he had his chance 2 weeks ago and missed my bits and nearly put my shoulder out lol. Much to Mrs Lanzas amusement

Who knows Xon someone possibly who doesn't appreciate his efforts or a Southend/Norwich fan

Great night results wise for us tonight, Wednesday lose 3-0. Yeovil and Millwall draw, Birmingham lose, Bolton currently getting beat, it's always best to have points on the board especially at this time of the season! Roll on the dingles!

Azza, i just came on here to air my views on tonights results.
I dont think that they could have been any better for us.
To make it even better, Leeds lost as well.

Was a great night for us Hound. If we beat Barnsley sat we can go 10 points clear of them and if we beat Yeovil the following week could be 14 from them.

With15 games remaining after that I cant see either team catching us. Bolton and Charlton are in free fall and the former still to play at home, I still think 45 points will see us safe so another 5 wins should do nicely!

I said to my pal a few weeks ago that I thought 45 points would see us stay up this time and as you say, that is a target that we should be able to reach comfortably with the squad we now have.

We seem to be getting very optimistic. How do we see the rejigged team without Sharp, Wellens and (probably) Tamas on Saturday? Forrester will perhaps be fit and let’s hope Duffy will be back to his best, but I cannot say that I would be confident that we have strength to spare to see off either Barnsley or Yeovil. It’s a very bad time to lose 2 of our best players through self-inflicted suspensions. I'd put Stevens in the back four and possibly play Husband in a midfield role. I really don't feel that Wakefield, Paterson or McCullough are properly ready for first team duty. It would be great if Rob Jones or McCombe were fit again, but possibly that’s too much to hope for.

Forrester(if fit) in for Sharp.
Quinn in for Tamas if Tamas isn't fit.
Furman in for Wellens.
Keep Husband at left back.
Why?
Forrester is a good player who could do a job with Brown.
Quinn is a good right back ( I am glad that Wabbara isn't available) and a good stand in if Tamas isn't fit.
Furman isn't as good as Wellens by some distance but is probably our only option as RW replacement.
In my opinion Husband is as good a defender as Stevens but is much better at getting forward and giving us more attacking threat on the left hand side.
I see that you are giving Husband a bit of stick donaldo but Stevens has been responsible for us conceding a couple of crucial goals and to be honest I cant think of one time that he has got forward and put a ball into the box.
On current form I think we will miss Wellens more than Sharp on Saturday so perhaps we will have enough ability on the pitch to see off Barnsley.
Wellens will of course be available to play at Yeovil.
Looking forward, Brownie has had a few bookings so must be due a suspension soon.
The way that some refs waft the yellow cards about I am not surprised that players get booked, some of the bookings are really soft ones but that is how it is these days.
In the old days you had to virtually assassinate someone before a booking was made.

Hound total love fest.
Stevens n Husband are different players.
I don't think we have seen the best of Stevens by a long way.
Against Boro we had so many free kicks in dangerous positions but until Cotterill came on we didn't trouble them from set pieces.
I realise he is not a fans favourite but his assist tally is outstanding.

Yes, Cotterill has looked better recently when he has put himself out more. Husband is not my favourite player (yet), but I do acknowledge that he can be dangerous on the offensive.

Do we think De Val has a future in the team? I've not seen him in the flesh, but looking at him on "Player" match replays he does not seem to get too involved (at Blackburn for example)...and that is not a good trait in a midfielder.
