Chelsea + The Future

Hello all.

At this present moment in time I think its a wonderful time to be a Chelsea fan.

There are a number of reasons why but ill outline a couple.

1: A clear & defined direction the club want to take.

For many years we have had seemingly no stability within the club managers came and went with various levels of success. But we are always waiting for the next firing.

there has also never really been any structure to the way we conduct our business in the transfer market. From the outside it seemed we spent 2 years buying players to suit one manager ( pep ) without ever getting close to getting him as our manager. This left the managers in between stuck with players that only suited one style of play. This cant be easy for any manager to come in and deal with to be told "you have to play this way".

With jose back in charge it seems as though manager and owner have the same vision, Play winning football outlined by Jose, whilst allowing him to build a squad that is capable of challenging for titles in the long term.

Whats good about it is that this vision is clear not only to people within the club but to us fans. This is very refreshing for me.

2: FFP / Sustainability - Im not that clued op on FFP, from what I have read into it, I don't think its enforceable. However I feel that Chelsea are being very clever regarding this. We are playing FFP by the book, we are not relying on dubious sponsorship deals, but good old fashioned "buy low sell high" this coupled with on field success with a stable manager will only ever be a positive thing.

3: Getting business done

We seem to have the ability and desire at present to get things done early. we have seen united and arsenal dither in the transfer market and that could cost them.

I fully expect Costa and Shaw to join up with the team ready for pre season ( after the world cup rest ). the rest will then depend on out goings.

Ps I expect one of lukaku or torres to be sold as well as David luiz to accommodate for the 2 above signings which should leave us enough to go into the market in Jan should jose deem it necessary .

Just in regard to FFP – it is not set in stone. Uefa have a remit to amend the current version if it feels clubs are abusing/finding loopholes etc etc.

In relation to CFC meeting FFP, RA converted his loans (circa £750m) to Chelsea to shares and set up a holding company (Chelsea Limited – which was later changed to Fordstam Limited) a number of years ago.

It is my understanding that Fordstam Limited still owe in excess of £700m to RA.

as I said I am not that clued up on it and am of the belief that "clever accounting " is going on at all clubs

You can't build sustained success with a manager like Jose. He'll fall out with the wrong person at some point & start turning on people as usual

The current media love in is an embarrassment to British journalism but won't last forever

True. Historically Mourinho tends to deliver short term success however but is not one for building for the future.

Just one other point I meant to raise re “dubious sponsorship deals”

Gazprom??

While never proven it is widely suspected that RA (as a former major shareholder of Gazprom , he sold billions of his assets to them) brokered Gazprom’s sponsorship deal with Chelsea and at the same time helped ‘supplement’ the deal.

As Gazprom also signed a deal with Uefa, they chose not to investigate…

Mourinho only has one thing left to do, that's sustaining success over a long period. He will do that with us.

With regards to the team, we are a few players short to truly having a team that can last as long as the last one did, and probably be even better.

Only good things to come. Soon opposition fans will be praying to whoever for a fall out between Mourinho and Abromomvich. Only hope they will have.

Jose has experienced all the leagues he wanted to, his ambitions now remain to build something long term at a club and to mange Portugal. I don’t believe he’d come back to Chelsea unless it was now for the long haul. Although he has been a short term manager in the past I think this being a brief tenure is wishful thinking on the part of rivals.
