Rahane

Enjoyed watching his century. He scored at a fairly brisk rate and his scoring methods were quite pleasing to the eye.

Rahane has done it the hard way. He got his chances away from home. India's batting is starting to look good and its a matter of consistency before we start being a competitive team once again

Looks like india's middle-order in test cricket is fairly well settled now with Pujara, Kohli, and Rahane. R Sharma's temperament is suspect. His dismissals are often soft; he reminds me of how Fleming got out frequently after looking well set.

Time for Nohit Sharma to go and Rahane is fit for tests but not for ODIs. Same with Zak as his old legs can't even last 2tests. He was struggling yesterday at the end of play and hope he makes the correct decision to retire after this test as Dhoni won't !

Yes zak has looked nothing like of old. Eventhough he is fitter and slimmer, I think the age has got to him.

Im not sure why yadav was dropped. He did so well in Australia in 2011 and against England in the only match he played, and since then he has been ignored.

I think Him, shami and for now ishant should play and try to prepare them for the future. We will need a pool of 6 fast bowlers for England and australia series.

India's defensive tactics helped NZ hang in there.

I reckon India will still win this, but a 150 plus target will make this very interesting.
