Olivier Giroud

Having had time to divulge my feelings and the recent performances of our gentle giant striker Olivier Giroud i feel i can now have my say. After a fairly knee jerk reaction where i did in fact criticized in a previous article i feel it is not Giroud that needs criticized but his manager, Arsene Wenger.

Many may dis-agree with me but hear me out. It is clear to see that Giroud is a confidence player (like many strikers are) and his confidence is at rock bottom. When he missed that first header in the United game you could see his head drop. That was quite evident when he didn't go for the chance that was presented to him by Sagna's cross.

Wenger should have realised that Giroud was not in the right frame of mind and taken him out of the firing line. A striker without confidence is one of the worst things to see in a flowing team: you play such beautiful football and then the striker just cannot finish it off.

I hope, for Giroud's sake he isn't even on the bench. He needs confidence and maybe leaving him out of the squad to get his head sorted will give him that.
