Off topic slightly but these players will and could be off the wage bill come next season: Vidic (£120k pw),Rio (£100k pw),Evra (£90k pw),Young (£90k pw),RVP (£200k pw) and possibly Kagawa (£80k pw) and Hernandez (£75k pw).

Exactly.

Why are people so bothered about his wages.

Think of it this way, 300k a week for Rooney. And say 200k a week for another top striker but add the fee of a top striker 45 million on top.

vCD we already have two top strikers in Rooney and RVP. We also just bought Mata who will have to be out wide if we are to play Rooney and RVP. Rooney himself said he wants to play as a striker as the reason for asking to leave. If we want a change of style it may mean a change of personal such as Rooney or RVP leaving, one or the other.
