Why do 'supposed' experts talk so much rubbish on the BBC? Enjoy the following quotes from McNish;
"The new rules - which have introduced 1.6-litre V6 turbo engines with extensive energy recovery systems and a fuel limit, as well as significant changes to the aerodynamics of the cars - mean everyone is on a steep learning curve."
"The cars have less downforce and grip, and more torque from the new engines. And the need to finish the races using no more than 100kg of fuel will make new demands of the drivers.
I believe this whole scenario could really suit McLaren's Jenson Button."
He of course ignores JB always complains of no grip. I like JB but these guys at the Beeb set him up and when he doesn't deliver people unfairly heap abuse on him.
Nobody knows what is going to happen this season, so be quiet and let us wait and see.
Here we go again

We have the same in MotoGP bud.
I'm kinda bored with the fuel restrictions etc to 'save the planet'????????????????? As if this is going to make a difference to our Summer/Winter?
Fill'em up to the brim and let the games begin

Exactly. Lorenzo has started moaning about the new Yamaha.
Personally think Rossi should have retired, he doesn't have the fire in his belly any more

Furthermore if a driver over race distance is say 2-3 seconds faster than a rival on the same fuel loads, then said driver can afford to carry extra fuel to make up for any fuel consumption issues.
The experts say you lose roughly around a tenth of a second a lap for every extra litre of fuel right? Therefore a driver can afford to carry on board an extra 10 litres of fuel if over the course of the race he is a second faster than his rivals thus making the point about fuel redundant.
My word, how do these people have jobs

it might be that mclaren seem to have had some positives from testing and with twitmarsh gone, it could be better for Jenson. Also his teammate is new and he should beat him which will give him confidence

pull a fash
welcome to the board fash , bit quiet around here at the minute but will get a bit more lively as the season draws nearer -- normally a few handbags as well on here -
have a bash at creating a topic that we can all contribute to

man devil
never know what you are going to get with button , if mclaren provide him with a car that has a good balance and decent mechanical grip at the rear and very likely he will be smart enough to utilize all the new systems and the 100 kg fuel allowance then he could be very effective --
not sure if any of the pundits can give us an accurate opinion of who will do what and when just yet as reliability is going to be king for the first few races --

Not massively sure that the fuel thing will be an issue as such, as isnt it controlled by fuel flow rates etc? So if driver nails, he can only use say 110kg per race (which i know is above what will be n the tank) etc
oh i dont know,
If in doubt, flat out!!!!

For what it's worth, I think McNish has a point.
Although he really is putting JB on a pedestal (like he needs any more abuse after last season), I reckon with his experience and his feel for a car's performance that if anyone can work their way around these new regs, it's him.
I dunno, maybe I'm just hanging onto anything cos I wanna see Jenson do well this year after such a miserable 2013.

It is bad enough having to listen to McNish without having to read him too.
These people are paid to produce a set amount of column inch output irrespective of whether they have anything useful to say or not. The fact is that fuel and tyre management have always been an issue for drivers in F1.
