Apparently, many expected him not to start but I thought he'd at least make the bench. Fair enough it's a shame because this fixture represented where it all started for him and made that early great assist even made Giroud look good on the finish 'The Ozil Effect' began in this game!
Thoughts?
Ozil Not In Squad

Like a fair few of this current squad, they've been ran into the ground rather predictably lately.
Mesut's just done 4 games in 11 days & two seriously intense games on the bounce.
Nothing controversial about him being left outta' the squad. It's a shame a few more can't be rested.

He needs a rest, get him fresh again, he's played a lot of games recently.
Will be more concerned if Podolski doesn't start!

He needed a rest. Although physically he still looks alright, mentally he looks drained.

Expect Santi in the middle and Podolski out on the left.

Would love to see santi back in the middle

This is a good decision.
Can we just let Cazorla and Podolski do what they were doing last season?
Ozil needs a couple of games off and then he can come back raring to go. The guy hasn't been a 90 minute player at any point in his career and Wenger is running him into the ground.

Ozil did have a winter break when he was 'injured'

Ozil had his break while he was taking the penalty on Wed night
