in this round of the CL, than all of the four English clubs have managed goals between them. A truely world class player putting the prem to shame.
He learnt his trade at Spurs, and is now developing into a true great of world football. Madrid robbed Spurs and got him on the cheap at £85 million, should have been double that.
Gareth Bale has scored more goals

Edin, would you agree to put it up there as one of his top 3 performances then? Would you say he's been outstanding throughout, or has been relatively low key in his overall involvement in the game?

I think he has had a fair few good performances, but would agree yes.
He hasn't been bad this season in terms of final output (from what I have seen), but has been pretty non-existent in the sense that he is either scoring/assisting or not contributing.

Tbf Edin when Ronaldo was out the team bale didn't really step up and show his worth.
Once he gets a good injury free run in the team they will see the best of him.

"Speaking as a Madrid fan, I'd say Modric is more important to our system right now than Bale."
Is he getting more assists nowadays, or the majority of his efforts are still the "pass before the assist" ??

6 assists in the league so far RDBD
90% pass success which according to a recent BBC article is "the highest of any midfielder in Europe's top five leagues who have five or more assists this season"

Always believed his assist tally at Spurs was limited by meh strikers.

Good job you got soldado then sandy to soften the blow.
Soldado has scored vital goals to secure at least 9 pointns for Spurs this season. So it was a good job Spurs secured Soldado, otherwise they would have been below Newcastle. Best to think before you post you feckwit.

Eh?
I said good job you got him and you lay into me, charming that is.

I've never really checked his assist figures, as I don't see that as being his main role. There are plenty of players (Luka included) capable of providing the final ball, and more often than not it's the forwards who assist each other.
Luka's main task is to get the ball from back to front as quickly and accurately as possible, keep the ball moving in more static phases of the attack, identify openings and execute the pass before they're closed, etc, find openings distribute quickly, and he's been doing all of that brilliantly all season. Add to that the amount of work he does off the ball, closing down and intercepting, and he (along with Alonso) is the cement holding the team together.
You can put all the fancy finishings you like on a house, but without the cement it'll collapse.

Modric is ineffective without decent strikers.
He also doesn't score enough to help either (as MF like Lampard do) . That was the problem at Spurs during his time.

Don't say that - I just finished building a wall
Totally agree with your synopsis on Luka's role in the team. He is the best at it IMO
