Well, that was a funny old game yesterday. I have to keep reminding myself that we actually won a game of football yesterday but I am not sure why.
The officials both made and ruined that game. Had it not been for them it would have been totally forgettable. It was memorable because of them. Had we not had those clowns we would have probably have been wondering how we can't put a team 22nd in the table away with ease when we are the home side. Maybe decent officials would have produced a comprehensive win.
Looking at the football side, it looked so good in the first 10 minutes, Chances galore. Shots blocked, shots cleared off the line, chances we should have taken and good saves.
Then it turned in to a wrestling match and pantomime villain Olukayode Odejayi took centre stage with support from a linesman on the Pop side and a referee who were totally inept.
Whilst everyone around me managed to be fuming all afternoon it crossed the line for me at some point and it became comical.
So, a scruffy deflected goal and a penalty and we managed to send high flying Accrington back up the M6 with nothing having been on the end of a 2-1 drubbing.
In the Predictor League, Marco seems to have the Midas touch at present. Yet another correct prediction. Incredible punditry. An 11 point lead now at the top of the table and the bookies might be paying out on a title win already. But they did that early when we won the Conference and we all know what happened there. Anyway, a 9th correct prediction for Marco.
Emnez (3rd of the season) and JFWqwerty6 (2nd) also went with 2-1.
1) Marco - 84
2) Tommatt - 73
3) Old Brookender - 73
4) Earwig - 71
5) BA442 - 69
6) JFWqwerty6 - 68
7) Robbo62 - 67
8) Emnez - 66
9) Boston Brewer - 64
10) Captain Utd - 64
11) BrewersCounty - 64
12) Foxy Freddy - 63
13) Otep - 59
14) Stuart44 - 59
15) Steve1210 - 58
16) Don TMB - 51

Confess that I was one of those driven to undignified shouting at the referee and linesman yesterday.
Pointless, really, as they will never admit their incompetence. Interesting to see the Accrington players having their say at the final whistle - they were obviously just as aggrieved and their website suggests that they think the penalty was harsh.
Too far away to comment but there were four or five strong shouts in the first half, mostly for rugby tackles on Sharpsy.
Is that 17 home games now? Plus 3 cup ties? I think I've missed 4 for different reasons, but walking back after the game, could only think of the last 15 and extra time against Fulham as worthy of the "Heroes" soundtrack.
Begs the question, if we do find a way of going up, how will we cope?
Positives from yesterday? 3 points always welcome.
Back four awesome, despite a buffeting.
Billy Kee deserved his goals. His strike rate in terms of time on the pitch is as good as ever. He has to be first pick up front.
Matty needs a rest. He could be a great impact sub in the run in, but he's looking off the pace. Belly only had a few minutes but his few passes all found yellow shirts.
Knowles not a target man. He seemed to be jumping too soon so no idea why we kept pumping high balls again.
I can feel that undignified shouting coming on again. Maybe the ref and lino were deserving of flack, but if we are honest, a lot of the frustration was of our own making.
Still, plenty of dropped points around us, so all to play for.
p.s. where did Plymouth come from? Thought they were near the bottom. This year's Bradford?

Good post Steve. Not sure what they were so upset about at the end. Whatever it was;
- They bent the rules for most of the game.
- They gladly took everything going that went their way all afternoon.
- It didn't take until the 95th minute to get upset about the poor officiating. There was plenty of evidence of it prior to that.
Yes, I agree, Matty Palmer is now looking quite poor. He hasn't been very good for quite a while now. I was one who was insisting that he was a regular at the start of the season.

Pleased to see I've not slipped down the table as much as I expected. Thanks for looking after my "account", Otep, while I couldn't (and for getting your wife to help me out with my predictions!)
Yes, a strange game on Saturday, the ref seemed to find it all comical as well - a permanent smirk on his face!

Do you know what still cheeses me off. The game is poised at 2-1. I have predicted 3-1. I have failed to get a prediction correct all season.
On rolls Alex Macdonald.
He has a free kick outside the area. His last few free kicks have been pretty good to be fair. This one was awful - straight at the keeper.
A few minutes to go and the ball is squared to a player on the edge of the box. It's a good chance. A very good chance. The last player on the pitch that you want to have that chance is Alex Macdonald. Sure enough, he gets it......and hits it tamely wide.
Thanks Alex. Now 34 games without getting one right.
