I'm Welsh, can't say I despise the England team, quite enjoy it when they lose to underdogs in friendlies like they might on Wednesday, don't think they'll get out of the group at the World Cup. There's this nice graphic on the Telegraph website where you can pick your England squad and compare your choices to journalists and pundits.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup/10497297/World-Cup-2014-England-Squad-Selector-pick-your-23-then-compare-to-our-choices.html
Here's my squad:
Goalkeepers:
Hart, Ruddy, Foster
Defenders:
Walker, Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Lescott, Caulker, Baines, Gibbs
Midfielders:
Gerrard, Barry, Henderson, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Lallana, Lennon, Sterling (listed as a striker)
Strikers:
Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck
Doesn't make for great reading but that's what I've picked because I think it might be the most effective. Notable omissions when looking at the pundits' choices are Carrick who I don't think is in good form and who wouldn't displace or complement Gerrard, Barkley who hasn't got the experience. Opted for Lennon over Townsend on Spurs form, although that selfish style of play has seen Townsend have an effective England career so far.
Horrible to think I've picked Welbeck but he was decent at Euro 2012 where England performed better without Rooney. Not a big fan of Lescott either, but don't think much of Jones or Smalling, although they are younger so perhaps it'd be good to give them a game.
Seen plenty of these articles and not found them particularly interesting but it'll be good to see what you think of Michael Owen picking Butland, Lampard and Zaha.

Thank you. Unfortunately we haven't qualified for this World Cup but providing our best players are all fit we may have a chance if we get a kind qualifying group for the next one.

Think tey'll qualify comfortably enough from their group.
Not as tough a group as people seem to be saying.
