Good or Bad?

I wanted to put this article up to get the view of the Leicester fans. Leicester as you all know are going up, I don't think anything can stop that now. The thing I wanted to pass by Leicester fans though is that about this time last year, you were having a major drop in form and looked like you were going to miss out on the playoffs all together.

I know there were a lot of you saying that Person was not the right man for the job and never had been, yet there were some who said give him time and he will get us up and I just wanted to gage your opinion on this 12 months down the line obviously after keeping him and looking certain for going up?

I am saying this as we are sort of in the same position as you were then, there is a major divide between Forest fans now who want Billy as our manager as he is the best man for the job and those who never wanted him back who are coming back to the fore as we are on a bad run.

Also to the Leicester fans who wanted Pearson out do you still not like the guy or have you accepted he is the best man for your club or would you still sack him the moment you go up?

To be fair, I think about 12 of Nugent's goals have been penalty's.

Also the dive in the Forest game by your player would have made Ashley Young proud!

Anyway had my say about that game, back to opinions.

I agree that Forest dont have the best squad but just my humble opinion. Regardless as has already been pointed out its the best "team" and most consistent tgat takes the prizes and that has been us by a million miles. We have been so impressive and we have an exciting squad of technically gifted, passionate players with heart and desire. With 2-3 quality additions i cant wait for next season already!

So you're asking Leicester fans, who are top of the league by miles and definitely going up, do they think it was sensible to keep Pearson? Ummm, I wonder what they'll say! There were plenty of them who felt about Pearson the way some Forest fans feel about Davies now. And both opinions are justified. Leicester absolutely did the right thing by sticking with Pearson but it could have gone the other way. It doesn't mean that Forest are right to stick with Davies, although I hope they do. I think Davies does some great things and also some poor things but there is no question we would be higher up the league, or certainly more secure in our play off position, if we hadn't had so many bad injuries.

Sorry BlackStarr, I still think you're overrating Forest's side. At the start of the season, I'd have said we were about even. Forest have added a few decent names to it, while several of ours have really grown as players. Meanwhile I still look at the names in QPR, Reading and Wigan's sides and think they look stronger than Forest's. Forest have potentially a very good team but for me they are currently top-end Championship players - like many of ours last year - and have to prove that they can make a step up. As I say, they may do this next year but for now they're a playoff-standard squad for me and have been all season.

I still believe they'll get in the playoffs despite their current form. Although having said that, I believed QPR were nailed on for autos, so what do I know.

Smug fan alert. I was one of the large minority that wanted Pearson to stay. I liked the way he was going about rebuilding the team centred around young hungry players with a point to prove.

Yes we had a dip last year and our lack of experience hurt us. Pearson has fixed that this year and it's paying back handsomely.

I could (and still do) see so something special in Pearson. It's not surprised me he's gaining the success now and I'm quite rightly rather smug about it.

So, me being totally right aside, I think you should stick with Davies. As much as I can't stand the man, I think he's a decent manager and given another year I think he could do for you what Pearson's done for us. He's clearly built a talented squad and you looked unstoppable before your injury crisis.

However, as I can't stand the man, would enjoy watching his media meltdown if he was sacked!!!

Have to agree with you there and I don't see how people could argue against that point.

I’m a big Pearson fan and always have been, but even I lost a little faith towards the end of last season. I wouldn’t say that I ever wanted him sacked, but there was a point during our dreadful run when I thought that his leaving would be inevitable if we didn’t make the play offs – and I became a bit ambivalent to it. Fortunately we made the play-offs with virtually the last kick of the season and I’ve never looked back and, fortunately, neither have the owners or the team.

As an outsider looking in I see Billy Davies as a very good Championship manager. With him in charge I feared Forest as a major rival to our Premier League aspirations this season. He’s easy to dislike and it makes it very easy to dislike Forest with him in charge, but they’re all reasons why I think he should stay. From a parochial point of view I would like to see him sacked because I think he will do well for Forest in the future, although that’s not such an issue if one of us is in a different league next year.

In terms of Pearson I think his weakness might be in his tactical inflexibility. He struggles sometimes to find the balance between defensive rigidity and attacking prowess, but has overcome that this season by concentrating on all out attack. If he did manage in the Premier League I wonder whether he’d be exposed because of his over reliance on 4-4-2 as he’s not managed to get us consistent with any other system. That’s not to say that he hasn’t earned the right to try.

With Billy D again I’m an outsider looking in, but I worry about his obsession with accumulating players. It always seems like he’s one player short or just needs this, just needs that, has one or two too many injuries (probably fair at the moment) or isn’t being given the support he needs. I think he probably needs to focus on a smaller group of players and build a strong team ethic. He should weed out those who aren’t contributing and build a side around those who are. This is what Pearson does most effectively by weeding out the bad apples and almost developing a siege mentality amongst his core group.

Both good managers, but a little different in approach.

The trouble is that everyone is fixated with one upfront at the moment. Some team will try a new formation at the World Cup and find success with it so all club managers will copy them. Hope whatever formation it is, it is more exciting then 4-5-1.
Cox is never a lone striker but Forest some seem to be inclined to change formation. There is a lack of killer instinct in general with the Forest strikers that hasn't been remedied yet. Another terrible miss from 6 yards by Mackie at Barnsley.
Whoever was asking about Miller at Yeovil, I don't believe Forest would find justification to recall him as they haven't suffered injuries to strikers. Could change over the coming weeks. Don't think Miller is up to standard for what Foreat require, though. He has glass legs.
