Notice when Spurs had a top name they beat the top teams again? Notice without a top name Spurs don't beat the top teams again? Under Harry Spurs beat the top teams again because the last top name Spurs had as a boss was Bill Nicholson. NONE of the others could tie his bootlaces. So the cure is now as it was when I correct myself when George Graham was boss(I forgot him)GET ANOTHER TOP NAME IN. Spurs have the players, they need the coach and that's Van Geel.

Apart from Pellegrini, Mourinho, Wenger name me a bigger name than Redknapp in English football. Rodgers is on a par but Moyes isn't.

Van Gaal is exactly what's needed at spurs, a nonsense manager with tactical experience for every situation.

redknapp is a bigger name now than when he came to us though….
at the time redknapp wasn't a big top manager. that is the point i am making.
spurs was the biggest club he had been at by far, and he did well, and the media were pushing him for the england job, hence he became a bigger name.

Chronic I see what you mean but he did well with the teams he coached and as an England footballer and Bubbles player he was good and everybody knew his name. Hoddle was a good player but not a good manager of players. Harry was both.

How about a leader ON the pitch? In moments of adversity, there's very little a manager can do from the sidelines to slap his hysterical players back to their senses, every good side needs a beacon to lead by example and remind teammates of the colours and badge they represent. Put a Puyol, a Terry or a Keane in your side and suddenly the manager's job becomes much, much easier.

Smack on. Although I didn't really follow football in a big way I did keep my eye on things from time to time. Example, remember Emlyn Hughes? A big name for Liverpool and England was clouted around the ear on the pitch on matchday by an angry Ron Yates for making a stupid mistake. Well done Yates, it brought him to his senses and he wouldn't have dared complain to Bill Shankly about it, he'd have been given a clout around the other ear.

Santini was the biggest name to come to Spurs in recent years.
