--------------------------Hart---------------------
Johnson-----Jagielka-------Cahill------Shaw
-----------------------Gerrard-------------------
------------Henderson-------Lallana---------
---Rooney--------Sturridge-----Sterling---
Subs: Forster, Ruddy, Baines, Jones, Smalling, Carrick, Wilshere, Barkley, Townsend, Oxlaide Chamberlain, Rodriguez, Welbeck.
I know some of you will question why Johnson is in the team ahead of Walker, but for me, I think he'll improve his performances in the World Cup. Walker has been Spurs best player this season but he does disappoint far too often when playing for England so is unfortunate to miss out.
I also think its about time we play Shaw as I believe he'll do well. He is ridiculously good for an 18 year old and will probably be better than Alaba in a few years. I had to choose him ahead of Ashley Cole who is behind Azpilicueta for Chelsea in the pecking order. It wouldn't be too bad if Baines starts and Shaw is on the bench as that would still be a very good lineup.
Thoughts?

Yeah there'd be a few average players close to the midfield with a few injuries. It's not a position England are overloaded with at the moment.

I have to disagree. He's not great defensively and he's not great offensively. He has decent power in his shots, without the accuracy and can pick a long pass, with a few attempts. His set pieces are decent. He's not mobile, he's slow. He's basically a right footed Charlie Adam.

I prefer Adam as a player. I think he offers more in attack. Huddlestone just doesn't excel in either defensive situations or attacking ones. I guess you could say he's similar to Carrick, however Carrick is far far better in the 'silent' things he does than Huddlestone.
It's obvious we aren't going to agree on this one, I've never rated Huddlestone and rate him even less now when he's playing regular games. I used to see Spurs fans talking him up and was wondering what it was about. I told myself that maybe I hadn't seen him playing regular games, it must be that. It turns out it isn't that.

Not that I think Huddlestone is the best man for the job, but:
A) who suits the international game with his style
B) Hodgson has built a career on the 'hollywood' pass style of play, and as far as I am concerned I would rather have to blokes good at it (Gerrard, Huddlestone) than short pass specialists

Also, I feel you are grossly misaligned when it comes to Huddlestone, especially if you rate Adam higher than him.
His defensive work always has and will be underrated, he sits perfectly infront of the back-four providing a lot of protection. I dont have interception stats to hand, but I reckon he would be up there in the PL league leaders.

He's miles away from Charlie Adam. He has more ability in his little toe than Adam.
