When you are in a hole

Stop digging.

The stuff coming from Ally is embarrassing. The players failed to perform on the biggest game of their season. they almost lost to a club with a fraction of their budget.

"But you could look at Sunday’s result another way – that we got a draw at home against a team who were a league above us last season. I’m not saying for a minute that is the way we should look at it but if you really want to be half full rather than half empty then you could."

This is just utter and complete nonsense.

We were terrible, promise to sort it out in the replay and get on with it. The attempts to play down or justify the slip are just pointless.

anyone who thinks a manager ISNT the most important part of a football team is note even worth debating

mccoist himself has set in a rot at Rangers, its manifested onto the players etc

not one reasonable Rangers fan has ever claimed this is a team of old

however this team is filled with guys who were other SPL teams best players in running for player of the year, there are also established international players in our squad and and one has experience of playing in CL and a uefa cup final etc

they should be able to easily beat albion rovers who boasted a player who was working in ASDA the day before the game

....or we could start against these diddy teams at 100 mph, get 2 or 3 up by half-time, then there would be no "sitting in", no "parking of the bus"

We seem to start games at a casual pace, occasionally the opposition scoring from a breakaway and we revert to the familiar high ball to Daly approach, then they "park the bus"

To be brutally honest, in most league games, with our squad, and full-time set-up, the game should be put to bed by half-time

"it was ALBION FAKIN ROVERS we played"

That would be the same Albion faking Rovers that up until Moshni scored had not conceded a goal in the competition...and also have already put out a Premier team...

The problem for me is the team do not look interested. They don't start games at any pace and the standard of football (technique, tactics, attitude) is poor.

I understand teams park the bus and that can be frustrating and occasionaly this will result in a draw/loss. I accept that, but I don't accept laziness. There are times were our opposition actually look more competent. We are full time pros there's no excuse for our technique levels in particular to look level or (sometimes) poorer than the opposition. This makes me question the standards of training and dedication off the field as well as whether we can be ar$ed on it.

Ally will keep his job because at the end of the day we are winning most games.

I have defended him in the past but it's getting to the point where I can't be bothered watching Rangers because it feels like a chore and seems like the players feel that way too.

teams do park the bus but when we have the ball, the 7 or 8 passes across the back 4 allow these teams to settle back into formation , making it even harder to break down, if we moved forward at pace we'd end up running rings round these teams

ally will keep his job because he is the boards useful idiot

Teams park the bus because that is all they can do. They need to pick and choose their times to play because of the fact is they are part time, and don't have the time to work on tactics, match fitness and ball control needed to perform consistently.

McCoist plays into their hands by slow build up play, allowing these teams to conserve their energy. If we upped the tempo, and utilised pace, we would put these teams to bed quickly and easily. Albion on Sunday was a shambles because their players were going down with cramp in the first half, yet we played into their hands with slow, dull build up play.

That wasn't a criticism. I've no problem with their tactics. Rangers have done the same against bigger teams, it's only natural.

It's up to the bigger team to pull through regardless. At the moment we don't look like a superior team in a lot of games.

Ian Black in particular I have no time for. IMO he should have had his contract terminated over the betting nonsense. That aside though, I can't think of a game he's controlled in midfield or even one decent performance of note and yet he plays week in week out.

We are also persisting with McCulloch at the back who is not a defender. I love the big guy to bits but he would be better in the holding midfield role instead of Black with a natural centre back in defence with Mohsni(who is average at best himself). Oh wait, the manager hasn't bought enough defenders. We've overloaded with midfielders and strikers though. Templeton and Bell were a waste of money IMO and their wages could be paying for two decent centre halves. This would have meant our goalie would be a virtual spectator and we could have played a youngster there.

We could have McCulloch sitting with Law, McLeod plus a youngster (Aird, Crawford or whowever is on form) in front of him to make up our midfield. Fully fit I think Daly and Shiels pick themselves up front.

Did he honestly say that?

That is majorly embarrassing.
