Sandro has revealed Tottenham players held a two-hour summit in a bid to save their faltering season after last Saturday's 4-0 thrashing by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Head coach Tim Sherwood pulled few punches as he publicly lashed out at his team following their humbling against Jose Mourinho's Premier League leaders and the Brazil midfielder admitted the angry sentiments resonated within the dressing room.
With tempers flaring, Sandro also said one angry Spurs player even had to be calmed down at the inquest.
"We spent more than two hours in a meeting amongst the players and we said what we had to say," Sandro said.
"From now on, we know that we all have to listen when anyone says something. It was after the manager's conference with the press [on Saturday].
"We had a meeting with the players. Sometimes one player got a bit more stressed out and we tried to calm him down and talk in a nice way. We spent about two hours that way. Every player had their fair share to say, put it that way.
"For me, to be honest, it helped a lot because now I can go and tell another player, and another player can tell me. The manager likes it. Everyone can go for it now and I think it will help."
Spurs hope to put their defeat at Chelsea behind them when they face Benfica in the first leg of their last-16 Europa League tie at White Hart Lane on Thursday.
In the aftermath of the Chelsea defeat, Sherwood, who insists his players are fighting for their Spurs futures, claimed too many of them were "too nice to each other".
Sandro, similarly, called on his teammates to carry on their new-found honest approach. "We have some times where we are nice to each other, and maybe too nice sometimes," he said.
"There are some other times where we need to put some more effort in for our team. We will have to do that from now on as there is no other way.
"We have to show in the next match that we can do much better and we will prove that. I am sure we will show much more character in the next matches.
"I feel we needed a moment like that. We are all friends as a team but I think that we have to ask more from ourselves and each other.
"I cannot put my hands on fire for my team-mates. We have to put our hearts on the table and pull our sleeves up for the benefit of our team and ourselves.
"We know the manager cares for us and we also care for him and we have to give more and maybe not be such good friends after all."
