Possession means a lot less than people give it credit for. We had more possession in the City game we lost 6-0. If you pass the ball around slowly across the back four then you'll have more possession but your not going to score.

Is that what Chelsea did today, just pass it around with not much attacking?

I don't know what they did today, just making a general point about possession stats. They seem to becoming more important amongst pundits and fans for very little reason.

Ok Roberto, I didn't watch the match either but my question pertained to the mach in particular rather than generally.

Chelsea have rubbish strikers.

That was blunt Bale's. All that possession and not scoring is ominous for Chelsea as before the Fulham and Spurs matches they were finding goals hard to come by.

I guess it was.. only saw highlights but they're missing Drogba, it's why I tipped City for the title.

Swansea often have more possession than most teams they play, especially at home. Yet they are only 4 points off the relegation places. Possession is only good if you can produce something from it, if you can't then it is in effect worthless!
