So with the very real possibility of Moyes not being here next season what would actually happen to our current summer transfer targets?
I remember a year ago Ferguson talking about how he and the club had a number of targets in mind for the summer, he then left and it seemed all those targets were thrown out the window and Moyes was allowed to start afresh. Supposedly the Glazers are impressed with Moyes' extensive transfer target system which is considered very hi tec compared to Ferguson's methods.
Every United fan would agree that major signing are needed in the summer and with some of the transfer gossip we have been hearing over the past few months some of them sound very promising (such as Sporting's Carvalho). However these targets are obviously Moyes' targets so if he were to be sacked what then happens? Do when start all over again with a new manager and his possible targets, and do when then allow him over a year to really get the players he wants?
Summer transfer targets?

In reply to you post "manutd1982"- a new manager coming in would probably have his own transfer targets, Moyes targets would then be discarded and the new manager would pursue his own players.

I honestly doubt he had any minimum expectation at all when he came in. At the end of the day, no matter who the Manager is, they're just expected to win or seriously challenge for trophies. He's failed that a long time ago.
If his inevitable sacking was in the pipeline, they'd sack him now and just let a caretaker manager take over. It'd send a message across Europe, we're looking for a top Manager and we've got around £100m+ for them to play with. That's a huge incentive to anyone!
He's here to stay, right or wrong...

I'd have to respectfully disagree. I hear what you're saying, but a 6 year deal with no minimum requirement seems very unGlazer-like. And the £30m it would take to pay him off that is being reported is a very good reason to wait for him to activate a termination clause. If indeed there is one.
Again, and I genuinely say this respectfully, I hope I'm right and you're wrong

If moyes is sacked at the end of the season, I dont think United will buy anyone untill we get a new manager. with different managers with different philosophies, Its difficult to say who will we bring in. Im guessing 2CMs and a LB.
Jose could end the season trophyless, get sacked, Join united and sell Mata back to Chelsea

In answer to the OP I guess it depends on who the targets are.
If he has Gundogan, Kroos and Reus lined up, I reckon a new manager may continue the pursuit.
If however it's Baines, Coleman and Anichebe then we better hope and pray a new man would scrap the targets.
Here's a question - anyone think the Glazers will let Moyes choose his successor

VC made a good point about the Glazers saying they have sacked, I think it was, 3 coaches in 5 years. And apparently one of them coaches won the Super Bowl. So there's hope for us yet.
Maybe I'm being insanely optimistic though. Today was awful, just like the Olympiakos game. 1 fecking shot on target at home, and the scousers haven't exactly been watertight this season have they?

Seems to me they just seem more involved in the NFL then at Manchester United. I rarely hear them say anything on any matters regarding us. In fact, I can't remember any

That's true.
He's here for a long time, not a good time

I've said on here before that as long as Moyes has the backing of SAF & Sir Bobby then he isn't going anywhere. The Glazers have a lot of respect for the two and seem happy to leave football matters to the football people at the club.
