Mr. T To Enter WWE Hall Of Fame Live On WWE Network

STAMFORD, Conn., March 17, 2014 – WWE (NYSE:WWE) announced today that pop-culture icon Mr. T will be this year’s celebrity inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Saturday, April 5 in New Orleans that will be broadcast live, for the first time ever, exclusively on WWE Network at 9:00 PM ET.

Mr. T is one of the most iconic personas in entertainment history, starring in the hit television show “The A-Team" and the blockbuster film “Rocky III." In addition to his Hollywood career, Mr. T also made many memorable WWE appearances in the mid-1980s. In 1985, he was part of the main event of the inaugural WrestleMania® at Madison Square Garden, successfully teaming with Hulk Hogan to defeat “Rowdy" Roddy Piper™ and “Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff™. In 1986, he defeated “Rowdy" Roddy Piper by disqualification in a special boxing match at WrestleMania® 2 and also appeared on NBC’s Saturday Night’s Main Event® program.

“WWE is honored to have Mr. T join the WWE Hall of Fame," said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman and CEO. “His WWE appearances were instrumental in helping to establish WrestleMania as the pop-culture phenomenon it is today."

Mr. T is the latest celebrity inductee to enter the WWE Hall of Fame, joining Donald J. Trump, Drew Carey, Pete Rose, Bob Uecker, Mike Tyson and William “Refrigerator" Perry. Other members of the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame Class include Ultimate Warrior™, Jake “The Snake" Roberts™, Lita™, Paul Bearer™ and Carlos Colon™

Linda McMahon set to appear at WWE Hall of Fame 2014 ceremony

Soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer took to Twitter today to reveal the wrestling personality that will induct him into the elite class of legends for the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony at the New Orleans Arena on Saturday April 5 the night before Wrestlemania 30. Warrior made the shocking announcement that former WWE executive and wife of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon will induct him.

The announcement is surprising as several big names were rumored for getting the dubious spot to induct the Warrior who holds a reputation as one of the most enigmatic and engaging characters in WWE history. CM Punk, Ryback, Hulk Hogan and even WWE exec Triple H have all been speculated possible presenters for the Warrior for the WWEHOF.

The 2014 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony will air live in it's entirety on the WWE Network, the company's digital subscription video service.

Pro Wrestling Examiner's Perspective: The Warrior's speech is a must-see for WWE die-hard fans, simply based on how weird he can be and how much bad blood he has had over the years with McMahon in company. Warrior is deserving of the HOF, and if you do not agree, read this. It is odd that Linda McMahon is inducting Warrior, as she has publicly distanced herself from the company over the last few years after trying break into politics.
