What is it with people on this site (we are just as bad as oppo fans) completely forgetting the actual meaning of these three words when debating?
Having a different opinion is often derided as bitter or delusional, but isn't that the point of forums? When everything's rosey, and everyone agrees, not much debate can be had, as seen on our board recently. For example the thread about Jose's latest brainfart has been labeled as bitter by some Chelsea fans. What exactly is bitter there?
And bites is the one that gets me the most. Someone writes absolute nonsense, and then labels it as wumming when they realise its utter carp, and mocks all the 'bites'.
As I say, its pretty much universal on this site, but at what poiny did we all buy into these new word definitions?

Agree with this. It wasn't too long ago when I criticised the likes of Johnson and Gerrard etc and I got attacked and called a wum.
Far too many self righteous c*nts on this board who can't oppose someone's opinion without resorting to insults. .

I've commented on the incestuous nature of these boards before. If you're not a regular poster then people either ignore you, call you a wum or just don't take you seriously

I have to say I agree mostly. It seems forums almost take on a writing style of their own and it soon becomes full or clichés, unfortunately it means you get narrowed debate and a lot of childish nonsense, literally nonsense. I think ‘bitter’ and ‘deluded’ have their place, there’s certainly enough of it on this site but that’s not to say they’re not used wrongly too, ‘bite’ is just so immature though. There are some individuals who you just wonder what they’re really like when they are so staunch in their views that they refuse to acknowledge a fact which is irrefutable.
You could look to the star system too, not that it really matters but they’re not really used properly and in the vast majority of cases you’re only going to get either 1 star of 5 stars depending on polarised views. If I disagree with someone but they’ve stated their opinion in a well thought out way I wouldn’t one star them, why not three? The same for a poor article with a popular theme. If you’ve spent time to write an opinion well in order to provoke a debate and someone reads it and disagrees, one stars it but doesn’t post any response I just think what a waste of time, it doesn’t promote a forum at all.

I laughed recently at journalists saying the petition to drop Tom Cleverly from the England squad was disgraceful yet they are publishing practically every week their opinions on who should and shouldn't play. Hypocrites.

They do that to so they can talk about it without being tarred by the same brush. A classic broadsheet technique to talk about gossip, something a bit crude or just plain mean is to report on the tabloids reporting of it.
