Ticket Allocations Again

The SFA have released a statement and I have absolutely no idea WTF is going on with this anymore. The statement is completely against what United have been saying and someone from United now needs to come out and state what they believe has happened as this is now just a mess and has made us as a club look utterly ridiculous.

"In response to recent speculation and comments made by Dundee United officials, the Scottish FA is compelled to clarify the club’s ticketing allocation for the forthcoming William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final between Rangers and Dundee United at Ibrox.

At the pre-operations meeting held on Tuesday, 11th March, Dundee United were made an initial offering of 11,063 tickets, allocated in the entirety of the Broomloan Road Stand, the Govan West corner and a section of the Govan Stand Front and Rear.

The number was offered on the basis of Dundee United’s ticket sales for recent semi-finals. For last year’s semi-final against Celtic at Hampden Park, with a 12.45pm kick-off, Dundee United received an allocation of 10,686 tickets and sold 6783.

For the 2010 semi-final against Raith Rovers at Hampden Park, with a 3pm kick-off, Dundee United were allocated 11,806 tickets and sold 9969.

The Dundee United official present stated that in order to ensure a maximum attendance, in the first instance the club would not require the additional allocation in the Govan West corner, Front and Rear and, instead, would prefer the Broomloan Road stand, capacity 8012.

He was invited to revert to the club for confirmation but declined. Notwithstanding the present allocation of 8012 – as requested by the club – Dundee United retain first option on the Govan West corner, and a section of the Front and Rear, an additional 3051 seats.

Should the club a) request that additional allocation and b) sell it, then there remains the opportunity to extend the allocation subject to agreement between the clubs and the relevant police and stewarding advice."

BTG, he was pressed on it and refused to be drawn as he wanted to move on, but as he was still pressed he said that Graeme Spiers knew what happened but he didn't think it was in anyones interests to dwell on it.

the last time we played you at ibrox was the 6-0 game in may 2012, didn't hear a peep from Thompson then and considering there was a media frenzy at the time on Rangers, i have no doubt that had anything happened it would have been highlighted, considering all the other $hite that was getting reported at the time

also, burnleyarab and barab

we are talkin about Scottish cup games, not fakin challenge cup games and there is a difference between a routine cup tie and a semi final / final

That's a fair point. Was Thompson definitely at that game?

I'm not sure why he would make this up and if he was making it up then surely Spiers would have said something when Thompson brought him in to the issue?

the thing is, did someone say something he didn't like or was his safety threatened?

there is a huge difference between being told yer a baw bag (which he is) and someone actually wanting to cause harm

his vagueness is stirring animosity

That Dundee Utd representative will be getting his balls toe'd

Don't think this whole situation has done Utd any good tbh.

Although, it may just be me but I found the SFA statement to be a fair bit childish in publicly revealing how many tickets Utd had sold compared to what was offered for previous cup games in the past couple of years. Looks like they were trying to embarrass them

SDF, I'd agree with that. Now it's out in the public domain he should really just say what type of abuse it was.

rnr, I thought the statement was a slap down to us and in lots of ways inappropriate. It's not how the SFA should be communicating with a member club.

Thompson stopped short of using the word but I won't - they're a bunch of fecking liars.

Curly, i'm still trying to find a a way to blame rangers in all of this

'It's not how the SFA should be communicating with a member club.' I agree with that Ivan Thought it was very childish tbh.

One thing is guaranteed in all of this, the atmosphere will be poisonous and there will be a fair bit of needle on the park too.

I'm looking forward to watching it tbh.

the SFA shouldn't be giving member clubs illegal sanctions but they did and that was backed by the majority of Scottish football

Dennis you're right of course there is a difference between earlier round cup ties and semi finals. The earlier rounds have home advantage for the team drawn first in each tie, something thats not meant to happen in semi finals! Agreed?

Oh and didn't the SFA do everything in its power to try to fastrack Rangers back into the SPL? Including trying to bully all the other member clubs into agreeing to their demands? So stop whining about illegal sanctions and unfair treatment please. The rest of us have put up with that sh.t for as long as we can remember
