Don't let the result fool you

You deserved to win but 3-0 was very generous. One goal was from a penalty and another a set piece. So you scored 1 goal from open play against a very poor Olympiakos side.

Actually Olympiakos had the better chances. Only chance I can think for Utd was the Rooney header.

On another day it could have been very different. The last 30 mins you didn't even get out of your half.

Thank you so much OP, you have saved me from a very embarrassing mistake

There I was thinking we were now the greatest footballing side in the history of world football, I was worried about how SAF would feel, knowing he had held us back all these years.

I owe my dignity to you OP, thanks mate

I don't think anyone is, or should be fooled. However, in what has been a desperate season both in performances and results it was nice to see that last night. I for one will enjoy that our season continues for at least another few weeks.

I love how penalties and set pieces are thought of as a lower type of goal.... Why were we awarded those freekicks? Because we were attacking and closing in on a goal scoring chance

Van Persie was about to bury that one until he was fouled.
Should have had another pen with Valencia.

We had quite a few shots on target, can't say that too often this season so we had a few chances as did the Greeks.

To be fair, I don't think anyone is fooled by the result. To turn around a 2-0 defecit in Europe is a very good effort, regardless of the opposition, but it is just one match.

However, any players interviewed, and the manager in his press conference, whilst obviously happy with the result, were quick to point out that there have been a few times during the season when 'the turning point' match appeared to have been reached, but that is not the case. There is a cautious optimism from manager and players, but Moyes was quick to emphasise that there is still a big task at hand in terms of making changes and getting in the players that he wants, and it is very much a long-term project.

He does appear to have a plan in his mind, is aware that time is required to implement it, and whilst the short-term pain has been greater than expected and acceptable by our standards, he has not got carried away by one result.

I know many on here question his abilities to implement his vision for the future, and even question what his vision is, but if nothing else, he does appear to have a plan in his head.
