So What Went Wrong??

So we take another hammering against a top 4 rival, all away from home & the last two games over by the 20min mark. So what is happening for this to occur quite regularly this season, how are we preparing for these big showdown games obviously something mentally is going on as its happening far too often.

Do we go into the game thinking we have to put no effort in and magically get the points. Read a quote from Jack when we lost to Stoke away saying that sometimes you just have to turn up & you win. Pretty disappointing to hear something like that from a potential Arsenal captain, is this the mentality we have at the club where we think we go to Stamford Bridge and get a result or actually put in the hard yards & earn through hard work, desire & determination.

What was supposed to be a great day for the club has turned out to be a disaster a bloody massacre to be honest. We had a decent month the wins vs Everton, commendable draw vs Bayern the NLD derby win. I dont mind us losing or drawing a game say vs Chelsea if we were 100 committed & played our hardest, unfortunately the 6-0 drubbing showed otherwise.

On to the game a few selections that were a miss imho why wasnt Flamini starting & why was poldi starting. AOC shouldn't be CM partnering Arteta, we know the german isnt going to backtrack & commit tackles in a game like this. Also you score first vs Arsenal & you claim the win these days, once it was 2-0 i knew it would be a hard day out as we dont look like scoring 1 goal let alone 3 we needed at the time. We should have been pressing them a lot we didnt have a UCL tie midweek so we should be refreshed & not so lethargic. When its a battle Arsenal players just fold & give up how many of our squad would you want in a battle???

I think there was a Mourinho quote after the game saying that came for the kill today & they did that exactly. We just dont have that mentality at the club we are happy with half assed performances & rewarding players with bumper contracts for playin good for 6mths. I remember sayin we should have belted a few teams this season especially Coventry other fans said 4-0 good enough dont need to put the foot on the pedal too much. Pellegrini after smashing 6 past us was disappointed they only scored 6 vs us, whereas a Wenger would have been happy with 3 points. The game vs City coming up we really need to show some bottle and also the willingness to Kill them sporting wise that is, give them a long hard trip back to Manchester to reflect like Chelsea have done to us today.

^^^ we just dont turn up the Ladies team would show more fight than this mob, sad to say. We have a squad thats fit for La Liga & not Premier League. Our youth set up just concentrates on creating/developing CMs when we need decent DM & strikers. Lets be honest when was the last time we developed a quality young striker from the set up???

The board say nothing to Wenger when we get hammered after the Liverpool smashing he should have been warned that its not tolerated & your position is on tenderhooks.

Tactically going into these games i would love to be a fly on the wall to actually hear what is being discussed because something isnt right when its happening so often of late.

There are no tactics

Both pool and chelsea set up perfectly to nutralise us.

Mourinho might be cant but tactically he is light years ahead of wenger

^^^ i was watchin the game with a few Chelsea supporting mates

they made a few good points they didnt gloat about the win tho

Wenger Tactics = Score more goals than oppossition & no idea on how you are going to achieve that

Wengers like checkers anyone can play it where Mourinho is like chess where it takes years to master it.

@ Herbie dont forget Sanogo punching Merte tho.

Its like Wenger has lost the respect of some of the players as he is like the new age parents where they let their children do want they want when they want & blame society when it turns to crap. The selfie that Shezza took vs Spurs was disrespectful could you imagine if Chelsea did that today Wenger would be moaning about it for hrs at the pressers.

It's so sad to watch a game and know it's over after 5 mins.... That's what it was today because you knew Arsenal didn't have the firepower or toughness to get back into it.....

Exactly. The inmates run the asylum and they have done for years. Do you think had Gallas done what he did at Birmingham in '08 under Fergie he'd have played another game that season, let alone continue to captain the side? The Schezney selfie was par for the course for the complete lack of character, of checked egos and of professionalism running rife at Arsenal, so it's hardly surprising that it spills out onto the pitch in games were being professional should be a pre requisite.

This game was no different to Spurs and It's not even about the team we put out but the underlying mentality and tactical naivety especially in the big games. People claim Flamini should have started, but Flamini started against City and we were all over the shop and getting ripped to shreds pretty much every time City decided to go forward. You cannot regularly open up in the middle of the park like that and not expect to get punished. It happened regularly against Spurs but thanks to their toothless attack and the eventual result, people were happy to ignore the many things we did so bad in the game - things we've being doing badly for most of the season, I hasten to add. One week down the line we come up against better quality and the result is clear.

You cannot neglect the basic principles of the game if the talent you have isn't good enough to overcome your completely lack of clue. When you have Henry, Pires, Bergkamp, Vieira and co, you can get away with it; expecting Giroud, Podolski, Arteta and Gibbs to do the same is borderline insanity and out-and-out neglect of service.

Time's at the top level have changed; it's high time Arsenal changed with them and the dinosaur that is Wenger is no longer the person to steer that particular ship.

^^^ i actually wanted Flamini to start vs Chelsea im not saying the result would have been different but he has that energy & vocal you need as a DM i like his talking to players especially when their not performing i.e his talk to Ozil, funny the 2 games his not playing we are smashed outta the park in the first 20mins.

Wenger wont change his ways unfortunately theirs probably a reason why he havent won a european trophy whilst he has been here or even defended a title. I mean which sane manager would keep Diaby at the club for so long, would he still be at Bayern, Barca or Real nope they would have released him ages ago. Then you have his belief in his players too much in some cases regarding, i remember when he said Aliadiare was gonna be class & Cygan was the next Adams & look where their careers went.

this is brilliant, it's simple and so true. IMO over the past 8 years we have got progressively weaker and weaker in terms of talent for whatever reason. It's absolutely insanity by Wenger to try and play a Barcelona style of football (hahahahaha) with the current talent we have in the squad.

IMO although formations can make some difference and we have been unlucky with injuries, Wenger has tried going toe to toe with the top boys with the best players he has accumulated and has got smashed beyond recognition on most occasions.

We came up against probably the worst playing Man United team in years at home and the best we could come up with, was an insipid draw. We played Spurs when they themselves have no clue at the moment on how to score and we scrape a 0-1 victory, if they had been lethal that day up front we would have got spanked.

In all honesty, on these showing, we don't need 3 new excellent players we need at least 5 and with Wenger still at the helm this will never, ever happen. I'm talking about 3 players.

Imo wenger is too comfortable its like he owns the club and is untouchable, at chelsea, city and other serious clubs the manager knows that he has to explain to the owner or board why his team is doing badly, wrnger doesnt have that problem.

That's always been the problem.

If any other manager of a big club had Wengers record over the last couple of years as well as the beat downs suffered from their closest rivals, 95% of them would be sacked
