If this was a new managers first season , would it be successful? I pose the question because i think the Wenger issues is becoming personal with some nasty language being aimed at the guy. If we win fa cup and finish well placed in the top four , have been top for large parts , bought a big player , and suffered terrible injuries which the other 3 above us havent , would most fans say it was a great start to a new reign. I think wenger has earnt the right for a chance to improve a great squad and get his injured stars back. I know he makes mistakes but the restraints on his buying and selling for several years in my book gives him the right to have at least another full season . Mentally if we win the fa cup it will spark the squad , obviously if we dont then he may have to retire due to the fans response. I hope thats not the case.

He is very reactive in transfer windows rather than being pro active

He is not even reactive anymore, otherwise he would have bought players in Jan after the long-term injuries to Theo and Rambo. He has a minimalist approach and thinks he will succeed with little investment and thus show how great he is. Unfortunately, an FA Cup win will save his job, but he certainly does not deserve a new contract. Time to move on.

My biggest gripe in recent years with AW is that he almost treats the transfer windows as an irritant or annoyance and doesn't see it as a tool for improving the squad when needed.

he doesn't mind using it to line the pockets of the board by selling our only decent players though.
wenger is turning into a hypocrite
Dead right, and he's happy to pick up his £7.5m salary!

It seems to come as a complete surprise to him when we get injury after injury yet he does nothing about it to compensate ie bring in new players in the windows to supplement the squad.

Along with "oil money" it's his get out clause from ever having to actually compete. His apologists will make excuses for him time and time again, claim the market had no value and that injuries undermined the season, forgetting that on some level, these are things the manager can somewhat control and plan for; things Wenger flat out refuses to do.
The man's finished and has been for years. The club need to move on.

Wenger wields too much power at Arsenal. He virtually runs the board, he interviewed Gazidis who should be supervising him. He has no performance targets which he must achieve to keep his job. He enjoys the safest job in football today. Mourinho is an utter but what he said was the painful truth.

The team is sadly mirroring the manager, slow and lacking in ideas. The manager looks tired as does the team, it's time for a change and bring some new enthusiasm to the club.
AW was a visionary when he arrived, unfortunately for him and us he's stagnated and can't seem to find the answers he once could.

After the Invincibles collapsed, I remained confident of Wenger until he signed Silvestre. That was the worst signing ever by any PL manger, and showed just how clueless Wenger had become. And it has been downhill from then and the worst defeats in the club's history are testimony to that.

Silvest was truly one of the most horrific signings by Wenger

It's a sad indictment of his reign at AFC that after the invincible season we haven't won the league in 10 years (and counting!) Many thought we should have dominated the EPL from that point on, he broke up the team, too early IMO, and has gone backwards ever since. Innovation has been replaced by stagnation.

It is one of many in recent years, Santos and Park run Silvestre very close.
