What Does This Say?

What does this result say about the state of Forest? Billy's gone and he isn't coming back. I can understand why he got the boot. My only disagreement with his sacking is the timing, personally I would wait until the end of the season as there's only a few games left.

As for the Charlton game, does this not show that the players that are fit are either not good enough or are not playing for the shirt and that maybe injuries have played a part in Forest's decline?

It would be a shame to not make the playoffs but maybe it would actually be better so that Fawaz can make the right appointment for manager and assess where we are as a team.

Goalscorer still needed!

Hoons yes he does because I think he realises that there is no one in the club with any knowledge of football, no one to advise Fawaz in fairness. I think Colin would be a good DoF, but I think he is right that things are all over the shoo behind the scenes.

It's a shame because Colin could have had an impact, although don't think he would have been a great long term appointment

Fawaz seems a decent guy but he needs someone advising him

Completely agree, we need some structure. Fair to say Fawaz is learning the hard way, by making mistakes, but like SHH says things will turn out ok because he has the passion, which is imperative above anything else.

How could it be that they couldn't agree a compromise deal wherein Colin takes the DoF role now and 'advises' the temporary appointment Brazil until the end of the season?

If Fawaz was serious about having him as DoF, and it would appear he likes him having allegedly pursued him twice now, then why hasn't it been done?

There's certainly more than meets the eye but there is something inherently untrustworthy about Warnock for me, so I'd always lean toward believing Fawaz first until evidence suggested otherwise.

Another rumour was he wanted double the money on offer. Who knows what's true? Fawaz definitely needs an advisor, I don't doubt that for a second. He plans to bring one in, though, so I think that'll help. He will come good for us eventually because he has the passion.

Listening to John McGovern talk about his new role as Ambassador, he made it clear that a major part of his function will be to act as a sort of PA/ advisor to FAH on football matters, including the choice of a new manager. This is reassuring as (to state the obvious) this is the most important decision to be made by the club over the coming years. McGovern knows the club, has his heart in it and knows football in England at all levels. He can provide the common sense to compliment the owner's passion.

The thing is with the Billy Davies situation is that things were getting out of hand, friction with press, Fawaz, fans, officials and probably some others. We had injuries but those left available seem to have had their confidence shot, and there is arguments between players in the last couple of games. If all this continued to then end of the season surely the damage could be worse? Either way playoffs even look like a fairly big ask whether he stayed or not. At least this way we can look to rebuild get the people in we need to and move on from this sorry episode.

Fawaz mentioned in passing before the sacking about "realistic" loan signing, maybe we can get a midfielder in to cover for a month or so now? Once we start to get some players back then things will move on. Can you imagine a midfield of Reid, Vaughan, Lansbury and Pato? What our fans need to realise is that even if things don't pick up straight away it doesn't mean that the sacking of Billy was wrong.

John McGovern IMO is a great signing, a very level headed guy who will really help Fawaz progress through this period. Part of me wonders if he had done that straight away whether we would have Warnock as manager now.

Honestly, I'm glad we don't have Warnock anyway. He's kind of slightly watered down Billy, really. I think McGovern would probably have advised against it.

And Blackstarr - what Colin has and hasn't said is irrelevant. He's hardly gonna come out and say - I wanted this much money, but he didn't think it was worth it. Or, I wanted the whole of next season, but Fawaz wasn't sure. He doesn't think it can be run the way it is now - maybe that's because we wouldn't give him what he wanted.

Speaking from experience Billy seems to divide opinion amongst his players, when he leaves there are those that cannot stand the to55er and those who've eaten the bull5it (Think a players version of SBD: Lee Camp) and see him as god and don't want to play for anyone else....ever again.

Dealing with that fallout is never pretty as SM found out.

Secondly, I think Warnock is a bit of a c.ck and an attention seeking tw.t for doing that, obviosuly he wants another job and wanted to put himself out there in the public eye but the English game ain't all that anymore.

Man City didn't care too much for the English knowledge of the game. I can think of a few rich owners who spoke perfect English and were still able to make spectacularly stupid decisions.

Well said Wellies, I agree with every word.

I bet Warnock recommended Clough to the forest Chairman as he'd love the Sheffield Utd gig one last time

The quotes I have seen suggest Pearce or Zola being Colin's recommendation
