Just a quick question....???

Several years ago we had a young winger called Wayne Routledge. After signing as our main right winger he suffered an injury and our recent signing, a young Aaron Lennon was called up to step into the role.

Although he showed some inconsistencies he also showed potential of a great young player and as such, a fit again Routledge was unable to recaim his spot.

He left, for a smaller team and travelled to a few teams before refinding some form in the Premier League and, to me, has looked quite impressive of the games I've seen of him.

As such, if time was to happen again, how many on here would prefer a Routledge in our squad to Lennon and what he potentially add to our play over Lennon or what does Lennon offer in competition to him?

Not trying to suggest transfer targets here, just a thought as to players we've let go to accommodate other players who have done well elsewhere.

Yeah I see what you're saying, I wasn't particularly fussed when we sold him but now he's gone I can appreciate what he did for us more and we haven't replaced his passing ability yet. I'd say more of a Carrick than Pirlo though

Decent article

I would take him over Lennon right now but neither are really good enough for Spurs. I'd still have chosen Lennon cause he's actually done alright in patches in his career for us and has seen more highs than Routledge over his career, not to mention is 3 years younger. But yeah I'd sooner bring a better winger in or see what Lamela can do.

Spurtle - I fully agree, I would have kept Lennon too and would still rather have him now, was just putting up the article as a bit of a thought. Have been impressed by Routledge at Swansea, could offer something in many teams but would still rather ave Lennon.

In my mind, Lennon has not been trained at all in his career, so many coaches have used him for his strengths without ever coaching him in how to change his game or to adapt to different games.

Routledge came on as a sub for us vs Pompy he was so bad that he was subbed in the same match

He did the right thing leaving when he did.

GBM - how am I a joke fan? please explain.

Thought I'd made it quite clear I think we made the right choice, both at the time and in hindsight. Just thought I'd try a different article from some of the usual ones on here....which lets face it can be a fair bit predictable at times!

I guess if trying to have a chat about some of the players we've let go who are doing well elsewhere makes a joke fan then I'm not sure what a real fan should be discussing that hasn't been posted on here a dozen times in the past 12 hours already.

Fair point on Bony though

Thought he looked terrible early in the season but has got a lot better since, although he does have the same 'shoot from everywhere/anywhere' syndrome Defoe has which I think may irk at some point.

Great backheel for DeGuzman though at the weekend

I wanted Bony in the summer

My one for this summer is Alan, he's a Brazilian playing for Salzburg in the Austrian league but last time i'd checked he'd scored something like 24 in 22 games. Worth a punt I reckon
